Aether Suite 3.9.2 - Project Nephthys
🕑 Added 2023-03-01 19:43:14 +0000 UTCIt's that time again! Only a day late. Honestly, it would have been yesterday, but I was in such a rush to release last time, I had some really dumb mistakes. I wanted to give it the time it needed this time.
So there's not a lot to mention, and tons to mention at the same time.
This update focuses predominantly on overhauling old assets to bring them up to a higher standard. A pretty big chunk of old assets ranging from some furniture to the entire warrens have been redone in a quality and style much closer to my original ideas, rather than whatever I settled on with my skills (and size limits) at the time. However, it's not just meshes and textures, either.
Now I think this may be a bit contentious, and I understand why, but I decided to take a lot of the crappy old screenshots on the walls and use AI assistance to make them into more real looking photographic images.
I understand a lot of people will be against AI art, and I get it, but it's always been a dream of mine to find some way to replace the screenshots with proper photographs resembling them.
For those of you who refuse to use AI art, even in this form, I have uploaded an additional "ASOGArt.7z" file which you can install after the main mod to restore the original kinda crappy screenshots.
Regarding any future photographs or artwork, I will move into exclusive use of creative commons materials, rather than using my own images, as you will see in effect even in this update.
The overhauls are an ongoing process, though I have now covered most of what I wanted to rework, so future changes will be smaller scale.
Of course, on top of the overhauls, which actually went well into this month, as well as taking up all my modding time last month, the crazy last minute thing I came up with was a new club.
Some time ago, I took a poll. So long ago, it might even have been on my pre-server breakdown blog. One of the main things people wanted more of were club type locations.
This release introduces Carpe Noctem. A new club made up 90% of new assets, with an overall scale roughly matching the Red Robin, but with a style all of its own. It's only one location, but at the same time, it's a pretty big new location, and it's genuinely new.
The file size is getting bigger, and it will continue to do so as I provide more and more object specific unique textures. That's just what looking fancier does.
The short changelog:
- Overhauled a large number of commonly used assets such as beds and exterior panels, as well as the entire tileset for the Warrens.
- Overhauled most old "erotic photography" screenshots with AI assisted versions which actually look like photos. If you're against the use of AI art, use ASOGArt.7z to restore the originals.
- Fixed some bugs and dumb mistakes, specifically:
—v3.9.1 made female Draugr disappear due to a test somehow being reflected in the original NPC form in the CK and not just my duplicate.
—v3.9.1 SE also had an issue in the nightmare due to SE's autoload door handling where the player would hit the ground and die before the door loaded into the new area.
—My release files for v3.9.1 SE just included the LE esp file.
—Both files were named with v4 instead of v391. - Added Carpe Noctem club - accessible from St. Martin's Place.
I'm also using a new download system this time. Just download the files with LE or SE in the name. ASOGArt.7z is compatible with both versions. If you're confused about the split archives, just unzip .001 like a normal .7z and all parts will unzip at once. If you want to install with a mod manager, you can rezip in your preferred format. It'll take way less time to rezip it than to redownload a broken download.
