*going through these at an absurdly slow pace so i don't get umineko spoilers* i really really enjoy when y'all talk about umineko because you have some very good insights into a very dense and complicated (and very rewarding) novel i think the difference between reading umineko in high school vs reading umineko in ones 20s & 30s (as someone who also did this) is. quite literally, without 'love,' it cannot be seen
I became a patron to be able to listen to you talk about Umineko, and I'm so excited liz will reread it too! Very much enjoying listening to your WTC thoughts. The "tearing a story's guts out" metaphor has stuck with me. Somehow it really fits both for those times when a story goes into painful detail on things better left to inference in a way that's disappointing, or even offensive... and those times when you just go full Bern Mode and take vicious glee in the story getting down into the grit.
