What is Ashlee going to do to "expose 'Tabitha' the fake"? Drawing a blank!

I like the development for both characters. Ashlee depends on people being like her ( abused, used, and isolated). While Tabitha, even though it's the future self, is being more emotional and is tell people how she feels. It's going be a big downfall to one of these characters because it's cause chaos.

Which Tabby did say to one of her friends (the one who stole her binder the previous year). She told her that you should try to be friends with her if you can, she could really use a friend, and it wouldn’t be a betrayal. I kind of doubt Tabby saying that directly to Ashlee though will have any impact except to have Ashlee lash out even more than she already is.

I don't think Ashlee is being loyal to Tabitha. It's more like an unhealthy dependency. Ashlee sees Tabitha as someone who's like her and when Tabitha was no longer at 'that level' and didn't have a plausible reason for how she got out of her situation it was like a betrayal for Ashlee. There's not really a lot of ways you can write that since Ashlee refuses to even speak to Tabitha now.

She might have a better shot at "I want you to have friends, even if they can't be me".

I think there's a lot of plot that can be made from the fact that Ashlee really does still like Tabby and all the problems are a result of her being loyal to her and rejecting the impossible reality of her in favor of a fantasy that's at least technically possible. (Like, come up with a better explanation that works within known physics and *doesn't* end with her being told "and your friend Tabby no longer exists".)

Chris Myers

Even in the original timeline Ashlee still lost her only friend in the entire world. Tabitha has no memories of her after the trampoline and MRI.

Ashlee isn't full-on delusional — remember that Tabby is genuinely mentally a very different person, decades older, who then revamped her body in ways original Tabby certainly would not have.

Great chapter! Character development out the wazoo!

Thanks for the chapter!

I know they need help but I don't think many people would have the ability to help them. Like Brittany might be the least affected but she's also the best at acting okay. I don't think anyone's actually trying to help her process things. Ashlee's full on delusional but basically has no way to disabuse her of that delusion. It'd be funny if Erica was actually getting the help she needed but I'm guessing she's being medicated with a psychiatrist running her therapy sessions. Not to knock psychiatrists because I'm certain they help people, but this feels like two problems being treated as one.

Ugh, I feel the isolation. When I was 14 my mum moved back to Bulgaria and took us with her. We lived in a village of MAYBE 1000 people with the nearest (small) town and hour away. After 2 years of seeing how isolated I was there she arranged with my dad's parents to live with them back here in England. Lovely place but not enough people my age and I was VERY out of place with those that were.

Too Much Sanity May Be Madness

Damn. Ashlee needs some serious help, and she's not getting it. I'm not even talking about the Tabby thing — she's right, more than she's wrong — but the stealing, the neglect from her aunt, the continued abuse from her sister, the insistence, even to herself, that her memory is more trustworthy than other people are... I don't know how she intends to prove that Tabitha isn't "Tabby." Memories wouldn't work: people would just attribute that to the back-to-back head injuries. Ditto the personality shift. The only thing that would do it would be a DNA test, and she'd need a pre-trampoline source of Tabby's DNA for that. Although, of course, when the DNA comes back as a perfect match, I get the impression that would only drive her further down the conspiracy rabbit hole. Yeah, she needs help.

TFTC! Sucks to see Ashlee trap herself in isolation :( Rough situation and I'll be curious to see if Tabitha can ever convince her that she genuinely wants (wanted?) to be friends.
