It is also possible that she didn’t reach out because she just couldn’t. To this day it’s difficult for my family to contact family that lives in Australia and Cuba. Maybe she just didn’t have the means to contact her family. And she definitely wouldn’t have the money to hop on a plane to come back to the states.

Experienced Cruiser task force checking in! nowadays you need to beep out of the ship on port days, which would help with knowing if she left the ship. As for falling off, there are railings EVERYWHERE. but some of the lower deck railings aren’t as high… have also been around for a few medical emergencies…with an older crowd you’re going to have some natural deaths on board. And someone sufficiently inebriated could fall off a room balcony without too much of a stretch. Also fun fact my family friend (godmother’s husband) fell off a cruise ship in 2010, survived the fall, and swam for a day to an island. I was a kid at the time, so still not sure if it was an accident or a bad snap decision after gambling (my parents hinted it was not as clear as he fell after reaching for some cash that blew away…) He swam for almost 20 hours though to get back to his daughter. He was dehydrated, exhausted, and jellyfish stung, but recovered fine. Wild.
