Operation Highjump | The U.S. Government's Secret Mission to Antarctica
🕑 Added 2025-08-25 07:00:09 +0000 UTCExploring the intriguing history behind the U.S. Navy's missions to Antarctica and what they were looking for in Operation Highjump.
In 1946, the U.S. Navy embarked on a mission to the most desolate place in the world: Antarctica. The excursion was short-lived, unorganized, and random; it prompted more questions than answers. Officials claimed it was to gather geographical data, but the world speculated the motives were much more sinister. Today, weβre investigating Operation Highjump.

The entire time listen to this I could not stop thinking about HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. It really makes me feel like the conspiracies theorists on this one are simply Lovecraft fans. Super interesting episode! Love you guys!

I'm sort of surprised that Fredo didn't pick up on the "Savage Land" reference that Trevor dropped

Love a good polar expedish. Currently on a kick reading about the expeditions to antarctica in the late 19th / early 20th century (De Gerlache, Amundsen, Shackleton, etc.) so this is timely haha

God Im such a sucker for these heavy conspiracy ones. I know that like half of this whole episode is opinions and theories but Trevor is so real for the NASA comments and is such a fuckin mood

Fun listen! I am currently living at McMurdo in Antarctica working, and hearing about the conspiracies is always entertaining. I have been down here for 11 months and only have one left before I leave the ice. Great episode!

I think because its such an open desolate harsh environment people let their imagination run wild. Don't get me wrong id love to have hollow earth or some type of civilization beyond an ice wall or whatever crazy thing you can think of. Its just too much being added where theres way too little there for anything to stick for me.
