Make sure your object coming in is actually polygons. Sometimes importing geometry it imports it as packed geometry. then the point deform won't work.

Hey Paul, thank you for your tutorials, always very helpful. I recreated the embroidery effect and applied it to a Houdini grid with the point deformer and it works without a problem. However, when I import a surface from outside as a .obj or .abc, the point deform stops working. Do I need to do anything to the imported geometry to fix it?

Hi Marine, sure! Feel free to send me a DM with a link to some screenshots and/or file and i'll do my best to help out!

Hello, thanks so much for this amazing tutorial. I gave a try with a logo but i've got some strange behavior regarding the direction of some parts which should be uniform. I'm on it since 2 days, and as i'm quite new in houdini, i'm running out of solutions :/ Is there any chance i can send you a capture so maybe you could give some advice to correct it ?
Paul Esteves
Ah, really good to know. Thanks for sharing Guido. It's one of those situations where Houdini can do things in so many ways, sometimes we don't always pick the most optimal, but if it works, it works!

I gave a try with a sort of Ralph Lauren logo silhouette and the Divide with Remove Shared Edge was messing up the little indent details... In the end I solved using the Extract Silhouette Labs node with Remove Outside of Silhouette ticked on... It made everything easy and actually very fast to calculate then in the for each loop, much faster than before
