035 - Shoe Commercial Pt. 1 Twist
🕑 Added 2024-11-01 14:00:18 +0000 UTCIn this first part we'll take a look at the Houdini interface, the different contexts and also start slowly and do some sop level animations using the twist deform in Houdini. We'll also use the MOPS spring node, here is a link to MOPS: https://www.motionoperators.com/
I also mention ODtools, which can be found here: https://origamidigital.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=66

After further investigation it seems like there was some background proces going while I whoueorking with houdini that day. After re opening same project day after eeverything worked like it should be. But I appreciate you took time to reply. Can't wait for part 4 :)

I'm not a hardware expert, so, I'm just guessing. But I would struggle to believe it'd be that. When you say it is choppy, what do you mean? It doesn't play smoothly? What if you try a simpler mesh, like the pighead or just a sphere?

Thank you foe reply. I run x5950 overclocked. Could it be because I have only one drive, that I have windows on it and all software?

I'm running on an old CPU, the TR3970x. It's not fast at all. And the twist node should be really fast, next to real time. I think it'd be something else, not hardware.

Hi Paul. Great tutorial. Whould it be possible for you to share with us details on what rig you running on those projects? I would like to know just as a reference, because my pc I would say is quite decent, but twist node makes my sim really chopy. I'm wondering if it's my hardware or something else.

Hey Paul, this a great intro series - BIG THANKS. Do have more planned in this format (beginner friendly) for other types of sims - say Grains / Pyro etc etc...? What's nice so far about this is i can keep up without needing to know a great deal of VEX haha.
