Duder

What a vicious cow, consumings its [consumings >> consuming]

Zogarth

It was a translation of something in my native language that apparently isn't a saying in English. A harmonica-effect is often seen in large car crashes involving multiple vehicles where one car hits the one in front, followed by more cars then smashing into that car from behind. Aka it looks like when you push a harmonica together, but with cars.

Loric

“Harmonica-effect” is not a word, or a thing, unless you are saying the cows surrounding that charging bull suddenly got the blues or something.. perhaps you meant a cascade, avalanche or wave? A concertina or accordion would make more sense musical instrument-wise if you somehow needed a metaphor that had an instrument in it

Blake Richardson

Thanks for the chapter

CyclopsSlayer

I have to wonder, the (now leaderless) cloud island, and this fort seem so much like set pieces. Out of place, and seemingly without purpose, advanced training grounds?

I mean it could be a D-grade beast that is looking for a challenge and since the beasts aren't doing it is hoping for the humans to be more interesting and wants to level them up to get there. Or it could be a human that wants to wear out the fort before swooping in and saving it to look like a hero. It could be a system thing to attack settlements to test them. Honestly could be a lot of things that could work in story and to criticize without knowing what the reason is seems silly.

Zogarth

Fixed.

Steven Thompsen

Honestly it doesn't make sense period for there to be a mastermind behind this unless it's like a god somehow influencing the beasts to help the humans get stronger but that's literally the only possible conclusion cuz anyone looking for XP would just kill the beasts themselves why waste experience leveling up other people when you could take that experience and use it more effectively I'm hoping there's a really good reason for this being manufactured cuz if not it'll seem fairly lazily written

Grammarmelade

He [delete: had] hadn’t disclosed to Miranda

Zarik0

Coul be a necro or other human with a sick class who need hight lv sacrifice, or a god who have given a minor blessing to one of the people on the fort and doing some shit here, or a quest by the system? (hey the fortress was not build and put alone without other building in plains out of nowhere, the system did it Can be a lot of thing untill author decide ;P Edit: Yeah the system manufactured this is likely (think about it, they get free lv and shit training in a defensive position and its in proximity of the pillum of civi) So its for train them before they go vs a D beast on the pillar, so i vote system shit Guess we have a pseudo beast or system or shit thing dungeon or other challenge for stopping this swarm coming every day who is "close" to D rank difficulty so when they finish this "training/challenge" they ready for fuck the D beast at the pillar

Zogarth

Tired to rewrite it a bit.

Silvertooth09

Thank

Zogarth

Rewrote some stuff.

flssdd

"He took out what looked like a missile launcher as he knelt, channeling magic in his hands as Phillip began to channel his strongest skill – the epic-rarity one he had bought for nearly all his tutorial points." This whole thing sounds very awkward and clunky.

flssdd

Doubt it, it doesn't fit or make sense. It's probably a beast, maybe a mega cow or a shepherd or something. These bodies are not conjured out of nothing, there are already in the thousands, so there is a logical connection there no matter what the source or the reasons are.

HardcoreLace756

Thanks for the chapter!

Zogarth

Damn, I totally just skimmed over that paragraph when editing XD

L Pedersen

hmmmm Maybe a certain necromancer is looking to upgrade his army but found that the humans in the fort needed to get stronger before they'd be of any use to him...

Jason Bryant

“The one saving grace of this entire shitshow was that the beasts in the daily attacks were stupid and didn’t have many [fighting proper -> proper fighting] tactics. [They would just charge until they got killed, the only ones showing even a modicum of tactical prowess, the Herd Leaders -> They would just charge until they got killed. The Herd Leaders were the only ones showing even a modicum of tactical prowess].” As always thank you for the chapter! ^^

Tomer Yud

because Jake was lost in thought. the fight was boring for him. also his perception is so high everying is probably in slow motion for him, he has time for tons of thoughts lol

RottenTangerine

It definitely sounds like some D-grade beast is feeding the humans to farm them for experience in the future... good chapter!

Necromancer guy for sure

Talespinner Lore

Feeding the XP bags, I see.

Gardor

Why do you think that right before a magic rocket is fired at a monster cow during a siege is the correct time for ten paragraphs of Jake's internal monologue on the best "build", and some exposition on side characters?

Kevin M
