I like how we're all arguing over what to do with 70 free points, which at this point in the game amounts to 4.5% increase to the AGI stat if we dump it all there- not a game-changing increase unless he plans to commit way more points to it or improves his AGI boosting skills. In my video game builds, I rarely go for the full balance build because if you have no weaknesses, you also have no strengths. Jake's PER build assumes that he knows the threats coming his way, and has the specialized skills powered by his PER stat to kill it. That's a great build that emphasized what made Jake unique (bloodline) and maximized its efficiency. TLDR, if you're advocating to dump the free points in AGI, sure. 70 points isn't a lot at D-grade. But I'm not a fan of a massive commitment to AGI at the cost of PER just to cover a weakness. All builds have weaknesses, but you shouldn't be so afraid of those weaknesses that you discard what made it special in the first place.

I think it's going to be the "school arc" we were promised! But I don't think it will show up before the world congress.

Agility most certainly is his path. His top two Hunter Class stats are perception and agility. And it would be incredibly naive for Jake to assume that no one else has a good movement skill. In fact, we know that Umbra classes do have a good movement skill. Besides, what do you think he is going to do if he is attacked while with friends or allies? Just run away and leave his friends to be killed or taken hostage? Of course not. He will need to stand with them and fight at close range.

no ones perfect but am i the only one disagreeing with him turning into a full balance speed tank range type? its not his path you cant shore up every weakness without losing an advantage. as the viper told him hes doing well enough. doesnt matter how fast the swordsmen is if everytime he moves in a direction jake takes a step in another... 200 meters away. hes an archer that can teleport anywhere in his sphere i dont thing agility is a top prio

Bob Dole

Sounds kinda corny? I’m not a big fan of the constantly masked thing in general though (it’s fine with people he doesn’t know, but when he’s socializing I find it strange). The only reason to leave him alone should be power IMO. We need some more political drama that immediately leads to violence in this story in any case.

Bob Dole

Possibly but it doesn’t seem in character. Perception should help him identify and avoid the two assassins anyways. I think he could win or escape such a fight with poisons and high vitality in any case.

Bob Dole

Knowing the system that would be hilarious, but the word Congress seems to imply voting.. maybe it will be a team event (trios?), where the winners each get a vote? 😂

He already sees the attacks coming with his Perception and his Sphere. That is not the problem. Even the best stealth skills cannot defeat his bloodline Sphere. The problem is whether he can dodge the attacks. His nemesis right now would be someone like the Sword Saint who is very fast and probably has a powerful movement skill as well.

Brisyngr

Agree with you, he should not neglect agility, but on the other hand more perception lets him see attack earlier and he should not let anyone close with gaze and onestep mile. So i dont think He needs to bring agility up all that much, especially since his lowest stats are probably still top tier on earth with All his titles.

I think Jake's biggest weakness now is probably low agility. His perception is unbeatable, but what if he is attacked by a very quick and highly skilled swordsman? Moment of the Primal Hunter could mitigate that, except what if it is on cooldown? For example, a pair of assassins might attack him, one being a sniper who shoots at him and Moment activates to dodge that attack, but that gives the other assassin a chance to close the distance to Jake at which point Moment is on cooldown and Jake might not be fast enough to trade blows with a skilled swordsman. After all, Jake's agility stat is less than half of his perception stat. One might say Jake's body is not agile enough to keep up with his perception . He would be aware of the decapitation strike coming in but his body would not be agile enough to dodge it. One solution would be to invest free points in strength and toughness so he can block or tank strikes, but that is a losing proposition compared to investing in agility so he can dodge better. High agility also synergizes very well with Jake's sky-high perception and bloodline Sphere. As much as Jake likes to dump points into perception, I think he should instead spend most of his free points for a while catching agility up to perception, or at least most of the way there. Perception already has a bigger bonus (65% versus 45%) and perception gets more class points than agility, so even if he caught agility up now, it would still fall behind again unless Jake puts a lot more free points into agility all the time. Bottom line is that Jake should put all his free points into agility for a while, and after it almost catches up to perception he should still keep investing a significant number of free points into agility. LOL. I doubt Jake could survive decapitation with poison or vitality. And he avoiding their attacks is exactly why he needs higher agility. Two or three assassins with high speed and at least one with a ranged attack would have a good chance of killing him when Moment is on cooldown.

Thanks for the chapters. First "palate" in this chapter was spelled "pallete" btw

And here I thought the chapters were dumped until the rumors became true. And now we’ll have to wait next week to learn about the most important thing concerning Jake’s profession : the Malefic One’s Promised Gift ! (Mentionned in the chapter « the perfect evolution » if my memory serves le right)

The 49th Khan

The World Congress is going to turn out to just be a giant tournament to find out who is in charge, isn't it?

Luke Scheffe

It only gives it for levels over 100

Borindak

Thanks for the chapters! Love the little sections from Sylphie's perspective!

Okay, I have a quick question: is it actually possible to lose access to the most direct upgrade to your class, or will any superior classes beyond the fourth most powerful be booted out?

First Thanks for all the chapters. It's going to make this already rough wednesday a lot better. With that said this may be a bit off topic, but with this whole world congress thing about to happen, Im kind of digging this idea that the two people Jake brings along wear masks as well just to mess with everyone there. Make themselves look enigmatic and not worth bothering with or something. Using it as a reason to be left alone.
