Leeland

Hmm, would really like to know how this guy would fare against things that are not actual "attacks" like mindcontrol, slowing time, magical blindness and the like. Everything that incapacitate and does not target HP or the body should lead to an easy defeat if i read his abilities correctly. Even the Cow-Miniboss a few chapters back would be a huge problem for him, no?

Giving a character complete immunity to all normal kinds of damage is stupid no matter how you wrap it up

Danielle Warvel

Does anyone else feel like smashing this guy to bits repeatedly, then duck-tapping his mouth shut before finally killing him would be incredibly cathartic?

Joey McGowan

Yeah from what we know so far, this guy is just stupid broken, and makes zero sense whatsoever. Its that dumbass metal controlling guy all over again except hes more likeable---but 100 times as broken. Some real dumb fucking shit

Jon Lomax

it's about a track record, Jacob is all friendly. but as soon as Jake turns around hes helping someone slow him down again. if he wanted a slice of the pie, why didn't the church team up with haven

Jon Lomax

that's what I was thinking.

Regnal

There has to be some sort of major downside to Eron's ability because unlimited HP is just hax as fuck. There has to be a way to beat him or his build is just broken and much of the reason why people are disliking him.

Hickity

Still so much salt? Holy crap, try and see it from Jake's perspective rather than your own, even if he's annoyed, it's not gonna be a huge deal.

Landsraad

He'll learn that lesson today

flssdd

If Jake has anything that could snuff out Eron for good then it's "his" blood. No matter how much hp you have, how well you can manipulate it or how fast you can restore, once the well itself is poisoned it's all done. Maybe next time they "fight" when Eron could die for real Jake would try corrupting that spark of his.

graham

beautiful chapter my man! Enjoy the break, I enjoyed Eron’s dialogue being a little more complex.

Torbjørn Nilsen

Hope you get back to being happy again, and that whatever made you sad goes away.

Terry Stevens

Bloody excellent work mate. Loving it more and more.

Adam

This.....has become ridiculous, crossed my line....and it makes me sad....

BenjiVoid

Well he's already alluded to some. He has seemingly infinite hp, but it isn't. He's also probably not immune to soul attacks, it's just that his physical body isn't necessary for him. The only damaging attacks tried so far (either physical or mana based) are just different ways of attacking his body. He also said he's not good at fighting, he hardly has any offensive capabilities (he basically just wears you down) and I actually think this is the end of this encounter for them. He's unharmed but incapacitated incredibly easily. The only attack he's shown so far is a bolt that trades hp and because he has way more hp it's fine. We don't know it's efficiency, he could lose 200 hp for every point he takes from you. Jake also managed to fight back against it, it's far from unstoppable. It also works on your hp so he can't break through the stable arcane mana barrier because it has no hp. It's like punching a steel wall, he could probably get through eventually, either by wasting the energy in the barrier or by using way more of his energy. Currently he's effectively useless. Like a scar, it doesn't hurt you like a wound does, but it's still there. Permanent, not positive or negative really. And actually all the hp might be stolen hp, so he can't regenerate unless stealing more? So it's a depletable resource. If you leave Jake alone after losing 1000 hp he'll recover, eron might not. It's just that he has 10000000 hp so losing 1000 isn't noticeable. He maxes vitality, Jake maxes perception. Both not standard min max attributes.

Good fight. Lots of fun to read. Eron has an... interesting personality :D His ability seems a tad too strong though. I mean, sure, Jake's bloodline is going to grow to something insane in the future, like his sphere encompassing the whole universe, but that's only after he reaches godhood and pumps perception like a madman. Eron already has unlimited health and instant regeneration. I could understand if he was A+ grade, but seems too strong for a D-grade bloodline no? It's hard to improve on that with the next evolutions since it already seems so strong. I hope there are some limitations/drawbacks.

They are not really thing to discuss about this no? Jacob have acted vs Jake Well Jake can (and need to act vs them now) Only one way to go in and out of chamber So anyway Jake need just to bash them and retake it when they try to get out This is the same as what they have done blocking him and stopping him to have it by doing this, they have take it out of him, well he just need to take it out of them now, eye for eye and blabla and because they have acted first vs him well we can considere he is in his right (Jacob have chosen to get reward who can be live or dead in the future to be with sword saint faction, so its a indirect attack by scheme on Jake later survival, i think mild repercussion is totally right and need to be done It doesnt matter who he right or wrong, Jacob have chosen his side and its not on the side as Jake so i expect confrontation now (and i see this a little stupid of Jacob to pick a side vs Jake instead of staying neutral or be more close with Haven, this is stupid with the infos and the large world outside he know)

Alex Galaitsis

A very nice way to feed us world-building exposition in the form of an atypical combat encounter. 😂

Torbjørn Nilsen

Jake needs to take a stance against The Church now, as people already doesn't respect heaven as they have so few high rankers as shown in earlier chapters. If he doesn't people might pile on.

Jonathan

Plus, I'm not sure everyone realizes the seriousness of trying to keep Jake, or anyone else, from getting the best rewards. Given the way that the System operates and Jake's class and preferences for fighting, it's entirely possible for him to get in a situation where the best reward from the Treasure Hunt allows him to win and survive, and the second-best doesn't. Jacob has chosen to help someone else get that best reward. Granted, that other person could also end up in a similar situation, so he hasn't done anything necessarily bad by choosing to help him, but he has made the choice of who he wants to have the ability to survive more, and Jake will be perfectly justified in establishing consequences for it.

Jonathan

I wonder if the system shop can attach conditional prices to items. Can Jake charge double to Allies of Haven for the next ten years for any potions or elixirs he puts up?

P enyuk

I think you're really being too serious here. What happens in the Treasure Hunt, stays in the Treasure Hunt. It's just a game bro y u hefta b mad?

Torbjørn Nilsen

Honestly isn't any hate for trying to slow him down from me. I just hope his actions has consequences. This is a solid stance against him after all.

Nim

Not sure why the hate from readers for trying to slow Jake down. It's a contest. They want a prize. They don't think they can beat him with straight up violence, so they don't try to. Everyone saying "well, that guy's really strong, guess we'll just let him have whatever he wants and then hope he tosses us some scraps" would be boring.

Heraclitus

Nice to see an opponent that Jake can't just rain bullet hell on until it dies. Helps round out the whole vastness of the system and the breath of abilities possible.

Jon

I really, really don't like Jacob's delaying tactics here, nor Eron for going along with them. I guess it's a good thing I'm not in Jake's place, because I would definitely hunt down Eron and everyone helping him after the Treasure Hunt and kill them all, no matter how long it takes, and that's only if I couldn't kill them in the Treasure Hunt itself. And the Holy Church better fucking watch out, too, because it would be losing an Augur soon as well. Seriously, fuck them all. Better to just pay people to try to hunt down Jake and either kill him or force him to leave the Treasure Hunt than using lame ass delaying tactics. The first is at least respectable, the latter just gets everyone involved dead. Sorry for venting my spleen here, ya'll, but this is just one of those weird hot button issues for me.

Starved Consumer

That settles it, Eron is my favorite character.

Jon Lomax

I really hope that Jake doesn't just let it go with Jacob, a good battle with the church is just what we need.

Yashakami

I would have tried a stamina bomb.

Derze

It would do good for Eron to not be so open about taking damage despite the immortality.Being perpetually stuck in a loop of regenerating/dying wouldn’t be much living so much as a torture of his own design

BenjiVoid

Hopefully this also upgrades his sword. I actually doubt eron will be annoyed at Jake for beating him. He sounds like he'll just be glad someone found a way of "beating" him. He might however think that he'll never reach the peak of invincibility because people will stop trying to kill him but then the only way for him to improve will be by getting people to try and kill him. So he'll probably be getting in Jake's way (not adversarialy) a lot in the future. Did he get all his HP from the people he "resurrected"?

Dont_like_to_Talk

Thanks for the chapter

Amelgar

The sword get's an all you can eat buffet :)

Detrox

Heh, oldest solution to invincibility. Trap him in a prison and move on.

Tilen Praprotnik

Thanks

Rick White

Nice. That was/is an interesting encounter.
