Cool battle scene, slightly confused about the mana regen situation here as I thought this kind situation would have only actually been beneficial for Derrick rather then hindering him, even with not using most of his void abilities. There didn’t seem to be much talk about what Big Sparky was doing during that battle either. It’s almost as if Derek’s party are being depowered and/or held back when it doesn’t make sense for it. I could imagine that maybe Edgar’s lightning affinity might not be a great match up sure but he was just last chapter determined to do more and help more and his Lightning powers are quite flashy and hard to miss, I’m surprised that there weren’t a bunch of of lightning arcs/bolts flying around mid battle at least ya know. Same with Marrick and his sand attacks. (Electro and Sandman lol) Anyways, love the story and characters, chapters feel to short lately, really wish we could get more drops, and Tyftc 🍻

You mention him not being able to use meditation in the void and yet that is how he got greater meditation and stayed alive in the void to begin with. Kinda confused by that comment while he was using void steps.

Thanks for the chapter. Really cool fight. Not sure if it justs me but had to reread it a few times to catch when the perspective switched between Derek and the young guy. Also checky question... When are you likely to take your Xmas break?

Typo (subject of observation confusion) "Derek swore that as the man’s Battlelust increased, so too did the menacing smile on his face. However, during the fight, Derek finally noticed something a little different again. All the skills he was using actually seemed more potent than back in the Davenresh System." I thought Derek was talking about Jace's skills and mana, not his own. Maybe change "skills" to "multistrike" This identifies it as Derek, and still makes the point

The normal reaction when faced with the impossible and scary is fight or flight. In case of impossible fight, emptying one's bladder and instestines, followed by fainting is generally recognised as defense mechanisms

Wouldn’t his mana regen faster with meditation? Since it’s more concentrated I would have thought it went faster. Edit: also gonna be tough to raise his void affinity if he cant use most of his void abilities.
