New Project Announcement: Politicians' Speech Database

I'm excited to share that I'm currently working on a new video database featuring speeches by US politicians. With the upcoming elections, this topic is more relevant than ever. My goal is to create a separate project inspired by Playphrase.me, allowing users to search for specific statements by politicians through text.
But that's not all! I also plan to add a new dataset of politicians to Playphrase.me, which will include new features such as advanced search options and more. One particularly exciting feature I aim to implement is the ability to search by a specific politician's voice. This means you'll be able to find text within phrases spoken by individual politicians.
If this feature works as expected, I also plan to bring it to Playphrase.me, where the ability to search by specific actors would be a fantastic tool for content creators.

Cool ! Such great work ! We could also have a score of confience and bullshitness of politicians based on how much they contradict themselves throughout the years in their speeches ! A great use for expanding democracry !

Well I would love the political content on there. As a backend developer because I can’t deal with getting the front end right… I appreciate how the website is set up and functions so easily. I can only imagine what’s going on under the hood and it scares me. Improvements can always be made, but the core functionality of the website is what brings us all back. Thank you for your stellar work !

Movies and TV series are in one database. Another database will contain politicians, and a third database will contain cartoons.

That's great to know. Why not separate series likewise? I see that they're now mixed with the movie results.

This will be a separate data set and will not be mixed with movies. You will choose it (or not) as you currently choose another language. I plan to expand the database of phrases by adding such data sets. For example, I want to add animated movies, but I don't want to add them to the fragments from movies or series.

Thank you! Looking forward to it. Are you planning to have a search function by movie/show title? If I already know the movie I want to get clips from, it would be so helpful to search to see what you have available (as I can't remember every specific line said in the movie, lol).

Aw, no politician's speeches please, at least not on playphrase.me. We're already exposed enough to their propagandistic drivel on social media. I wish the database would be expanded with more high quality movies instead. There are many missing (what about an option to suggest a certain title?). A separate project for series would be interesting as well. I would subscribe to that immediately, but definitely not politicians...

Yes, I am working on it. I have just finished the stage of adding new videos from TV series. Enhanced search is my top priority. I am currently implementing actor search, and I plan to complete this work by October-November.

I agree with Alan. I love your website, and you're doing a great job! It's definitely the best source of high-quality clips right now. I'm sure I'll be a subscriber for a long time! It would be so helpful to have better search capabilities for movies, specifically by movie title (which should be a simpler thing to implement) and by actor (I can see that this would take longer). You mentioned in February that these were in the works. Do you have any updates on this? Thanks a bunch!

I can appreciate what you are doing but for me I wish you'd spend more time on advanced search for movies. Like why does Yarn have better search features and its free.
