Incarnated Whisp

This should be addressed in an upcoming chapter. If it's not, call me out and I'll give a straightforward answer.

MaliMi

If Redi knew abour fairy type, why is Whitney surprised that Hex hurt Clefairy? Is not she a type specialist? She should already know this.

Dark Oak

I get why you are not evolving cyndaquil but three badges without it evolving seems pretty late. I thought it would evolve against the miltank.

Incarnated Whisp

There needs to be some kind of moderate awareness of the move, no matter how small. So Metronome wouldn't have been able to call up Hex before this battle, but it could probably call it up now. I have a similar perspective when it comes to wild Pokémon having better movesets as time goes on. Once someone figures out or learns a better attack, that information disseminates until it reaches wild Pokémon, which then try to train it themselves.

Story Time Compass

Bit of a Meta question (To which I'm perfectly fine if the answer is: "Just Cause"), but... How does Metronome work in the case of New Moves, like at some point Hex was (invented?) but could Metronome do a move yet to be conceptualized?

Penguin Glutton

Thanks for the chapter!

Incarnated Whisp

I considered it when writing this chapter, but I felt as though these two moves were obvious enough that it made sense for Sam to recognize them. Sky Uppercut stands out because of its jump, though Reflect is a bit more of a stretch. That one could have easily been confused with Light Screen, but I wanted to focus more on Hex than the outcome of Clefairy's Metronome. If something does seem obscure enough that Sam wouldn't recognize it, I'll probably do exactly what you said and wait to name it until the Author Note--or I'll have someone else recognize and name it.

Incarnated Whisp

Thank you!

Doctor Xerox

I had a thought while reading this. How does Sam know what move is being used by metronome? It’s name isn’t being called out, and I’d imagine recognizing moves on sight to be a high level trainer skill. I wonder if it would improve the chapters with Whitney fights to have Sam not recognize unfamiliar metronome moves but describe them, maybe recognize their type by their effects (I imagine recognizing the difference between reflect and light screen would be challenging too), and then you can name them in the author notes.

Kronos07

Thanks for the chapter! Edit Suggestions: "Ominious Wind" -> "Ominous Wind" "One of Clefairy fists began to glow" -> "One of Clefairy's fists began to glow" "Like a brick they dropped out of the air" -> "Like a brick, they dropped out of the air" "Can’t wait to see you beat Whitney without faint" -> "Can’t wait to see you beat Whitney without fainting" or "Can’t wait to see you beat Whitney without any faints" (or something like this) "“You have a good Cyndaquil,” she continue." -> "“You have a good Cyndaquil,” she continued."

Drasolvent

Oh boy TMs... yeah there's alot of them. Shadowball would be out since Sam already has instructions. Since Bugsy is next, my guess is Aerial Ace since Mankey, Teddiursa, and Porygon can learn it by TM.

Incarnated Whisp

I think it gets overshadowed by Phantom Force, which is the same move but with a wider learnset and a lower base power.

mhaj58

I almost brought up Shadow Force before remembering that it’s Giratina exclusive. Does anyone remember that because compared to Roar of Time or Spacial Rend it’s not as impressive

Kris Boxall

Mankey can learn 3 ghost type moves before he evolves, so he’ll probably pick up 1 of them

Steven

thanks for the chapter

Pandorasboxes

I know mankey doesnt normaly learn shadow punch but i know annialape does does this mean that mankey could potentialy learn it in your setting? Would be a good way for him to get used to ghost type energy
