Incarnated Whisp

It is! Thank you!

“You kids are really going to make this harder than it has to be, aren’t you?” Petrel said as he peered out the broken, his Golbat blowing away any lingering smoke. I’m guessing the missing word is window.

I'll be spending some time over the weekend adjusting this chapter to make both characters more in line with how they've been developing. If you're willing to point out any specific section that really needs to be changed, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for the feedback!

Redi seems to not have grown at all. Kind of frustrating to read her keep making the same mistakes. Sam has his pressure points too but atleast it feels like he is growing as a character

Forint

They need to train for non league enforced pokemon battles like these lest they be caught with their pants down, again.

Thanks for the chapter author

I really appreciate your comment. It's hard to know which parts that stick out in these chapters when I'm the one writing them and when I've read them throug so many times. Your comment is incredible, and I've copied it to my notes so I can make edits when I'm not so exhausted. Having characters be tricked is always tough to pull off. Thank you, genuinely! This is extremely helpful!

I just feel it is slightly off for Sam to never let down his guard from the very moment he hears about the tour. He constantly internally and externally voiced his suspicions about ‘Pete’ even to the point that he thinks his name itself is suspicious. We just had Misdreavus’ arc where he met her once, thought she was attacking, and then after that thought she was lonely and sought her out, despite ghost being universally known as tricksters. I feel like the Sam that trusted a wild ghost would not immediately turn around and be so on guard about the tour. Additionally, I feel like the chapter might have flowed better if he let his guard down around ‘Pete’ before the betrayal, instead of constantly being on guard and nearly having Porygon stolen anyways. Maybe have him let down his guard after meeting Petrel, I feel like the gardening and suspicion about the name were trending into being openly hostile. On the other hand, it seemed like Redi was being slightly reckless and too trusting with the tour. We just had the tournament arc where she thinks of herself being the dumb brute and wanted to be better, with some growth being shown especially with how strategic she was being in the Pokémon race. It feels jarring to just have her go make dumb decisions immediately after, especially with her brushing off Sam’s worries about how the tour is sketch. If you plan for this to be an in story blow to Redi’s self esteem, with her doubting her intelligence and own judgment, then I could see it working. Otherwise, it would feel weird for Redi to think she’s a dumb brute, try to improve herself, do something dumb and reckless, and then just continue on with her character arc of trying to be more strategic without addressing it.

Thanks for the chapter

I was thinking game mechanics. Primeape evolves at Lv 28 and Usurang at 30. A Raticate base stat total is so much lower it would need to be lv 45 to match them

A few quick replies: -There's a reason Petrel is on his own. He didn't have any grunts to bring with him. It should be discussed next chapter. -For the ambush, do you mean having Haunter go after Petrel's arm faster than he does currently? That's an easy change. -They figured out they were outmatched almost right away. Using Porygon as bait would have been too risky, but I did consider it while writing. -Not sure what you mean by a level gap, so I'm not sure how I would need to change things to adjust this. Thank you for feedback!

Few criticisms Petrol shouldn’t be smart enough to set up an effective trap and not bring any grunts Sam should have used his ambush once he caught Petrol pickpocketing. Redi should have released Porygon as bait to assist the escape. Maybe include the level gap between the Pokemon. A Raticate would need 15 levels to overpower an Usurang or Primeape

Do you have any suggestions for specific sections I can tweak to adjust how Sam and Redi are portrayed? And don't worry about them running away. The first place any good trainer heads to after their Pokémon gets hurt is always the Pokémon Center.

Excellent chapter, though I feel like Sam was a bit too cautious for how he has been portrayed upto this point, and Redi was too trusting. Also, please don’t have them be dumb kids and not report this.
