The 49th Khan

If I had to choose 2 more pokemon, I would say Basculegion(Basculin) and Froslass(Snorunt). Even without them being good ghost types, its partly that I want to continue the Ghost type specialist with few Ghosts joke. The the conference comes around and suddenly he has a full team of ghosts. Half of them never before seen.

Gordon

As I've said in a previous chaoter would love him to get one of the tankier Ghost mons, a Dusknoir(Dusclops), a Aegislash(Honedge) or Driftblim would be great. Really fits in that "I'm gonna drag your team through it" strat he wants to go for

Forint

Hisuin zorua is probably the most interesting to work with. The disguise makes it very ghosty as well. It's a normal type, so redi can help train it. I like this one because it is a malicious ghost, born from hatred of humanity. He needs to deal with an actual evil ghost because that is also an aspect of ghost types. Unfortunately, you can't really just catch one. Another interesting option is palosand. Most ghosts hide in shadows, this one hides in the ground itself, and total terrain manipulation is a powerful tool for battling. The other options are honedge, phantump. (Tho honestly honestly I'd save honedge for a character that knows swords, it'd be an interesting story, steel type specialist? Based in ancient hisui cause then you get steel goodra)

Penguin Glutton

Thanks for the chap! Also for me I would like to see Dhelmise and cursola also bramblin haha

Incarnated Whisp

No Mega Pokémon in the New Pokédex. The reasoning behind that is more of a meta reason. The Type Specialist had a heavy focus on Mega Evolutions, and I wanted to spend a bit of time away from that.

Cybresamurai

I haven’t really seen any mention of any Mega Pokemon? Does the New Dex not contain any information on them? Also having a Ghost Mega like Mega Banette, Mega Sabeleye or even Mega Gengar would be awesome. Aside from them, Phantump and its evolution are awesome pokemon and it’s definitely a mon I could see appearing deep in a forest off route, even in Johto. Aside from that, having a Ghost/Water Type like Frillish could be good, just for that Fire/Water/Grass Core.

Drogan2000

For Redi I agree she needs more to be more capable in the future but since the Normal typing is really tricky and we had the discussion before my options of Redi would be adding an Castform since She has the set up for a Weather team and Castform would fit, but since this would be also a consideration for a far in the future pokemon team I would suggest two pokemon that could really go with Redi for her 6th pokemon, and like with my options for Sam's team there are really only three options depending on if she would prefer adaptability or brute strength; Option 1 which would be adaptability would be getting a Type:Null/Silvally type null is a good fighter and when it becomes a Silvally it essentially gains the abiltity to change its type like Arceus. Option 2 Which is Brute strength, the answer to this is kind of obvious being Regigigas, The only downside of Regigigas is slow start but with polygon on the team to set up trick room, its not too bad since it could just be given some left overs then substitute on turn one in a trick room to wait out the timer, its usually over looked and would make Redi's team have a powerful addition. Option 3 is a pokemon which isn't a legendary but Slaking is kinda broken if it wasn't for truant, that's why they made truant one of the most hindering abilities ever made, but otherwise Slaking would be a powerhouse regardless.

Drogan2000

to be honest if it was for a 5th ghost, my first choice would be a Dragapult since its got dragon typing but it wouldn't stand out next to others like Typlosion and gengar since it focuses on being fast Stab attacker, so my other picks would be something with physical defensive bulk such as Dusknoir, Dhelmise, Runerigus or a pokemon with more versitlity like AegiSlash for its ability to swap between offence and defence, Houndstone for its sweeping unique move or Sinistcha as a reliable healer in and out of battle or Gholdengo as a Status effect barrier while having great typing. For the 6th slot no matter what I would say having a legendary, exotic or mythic Pokémon is a must, but I will say that not all of them would be great for a Pokémon team but my choice selection would be between 4 options; Option 1: Pecharunt, Really physically defensive for a ghost and works great for a status team since its ability confuses as well when it poisons causing way more harm. Option 2: Spirittomb, Good stat spread and abilities its only limited by its low speed and durability as well as not so great move pool outside of ghost moves. Option 3: Hoopla, Hoopla may be over looked since its more of a psychic type but its first form is actually a ghost type, I would recommend hoopla for 3 reasons its stat spread is great, it gains access to most of the best psychic setting up moves and its ability of magician which just steals items from Pokémon it hits while having a unique move which can't miss even ignoring protect. Option 4: Giratina, Giratina is essentially what Aegislash is but with better stats but for a slightly worse type defence spread while gaining access to between pressure + telepathy or levitate for abilities its the obvious choice but i know its not likely.

Kendelle Trotter

I still think Poltchageist would be great. Easy to explain it's appearance plus Sinistcha is an amazingly strong pokemon considering its cute exterior.

RiverusRomurus

I'm personally hoping for an Aegislash, two froms for added strategy, honedge forms from a spirit inhabiting a sword so its likely available just a matter of finding one, the move pool just may not be up to Sam's standards

Barkeep

How MC energy you want story to go? Spiritomb and going to the burned down tower could be a arc help the spirits it comprise of maybe? Would he a good team member too for obvious reasons. But this so far has felt like a normal adventure with out large MC kinda plots so far.

Dalton Phillips

Houndstone would also be a good one. Last respects sweep is nasty. Have golurk set up sand and have some destiny bond shenanigans add in annihilape before all of it and it seems quite terrifying.

Dalton Phillips

Any way to turn to a Misdreavus into a flutter mane? Could have some time travel shenanigans. Or maybe something like warping into or from ruins; and the energy from the past affect her or something along those lines. Just because it can’t happen in the games doesn’t mean it has to apply to your story as well. Makes it a bit more interesting IMO even if you don’t want to do that you still can expand from the games and make things fit for you. I would also love to see hisu zoroark!

Lirannasja

I vote for phantump or froslass. Thanks for the chapter

Moon Rabbit

Finding a Hisui Zorua whilst trying to get Quilava to evolve into a Hisui Typholosion would be a dream come true. I also definitely think a Phantump would be a good 5th pokemon.

Raptor

I really like jellicent or drifblim

tester

Seconding Drifblim. There's a lot of possible shenanigans with their moveset and abilities, and Sam'll probably like the tactical options one would offer.

Satorian

Assuming we're only talking about his six pokemon for this conference and not a final total of six forever, I'd say Sableye is a must. I'm hoping that Sableye has convinced Delcatty and Sam's mom to train him up to around 5th star level, so he can join without dragging the team down. As for others, I think it comes down to how realistically he can actually come across them. For ghost types there's a lot of plausible deniability with how you've set them up as moving around the world freely, so I'd say it's mainly about how he encounters them/how well they get along. ...I'm still not sure what timeline shenanigans are going on with Misdreavus, so I can't even tell whether that would be a good or bad way to encounter a pokemon.

Pbjellyfish

I would love to see one of the ghost/grass types show up. A Driftblim would give them travel options especially if Redi gets a Pyroar and can activate flare boost for faster flying.

Pandorasboxes

Oh no i hope redi's okay

Sea Bass

I’m just hoping for Basculegion to join eventually. Last respects goes crazy

BombMarley

Thanks for the chapter ,maybe a little Sandygast

Triumphator

For banette could just say he got a fancy new costume lol

Dark Oak

megas cant appear though because they were introduced later in the timeline in type specialist.

Triumphator

Banette would be good since gengar, banette, and sableye are the only ghost megas

Dark Oak

Honestly don't really mind which ghost type Sam catches as long as it feels like he obtains them realistically. He could ask Misdreavus if there are any grass-ghosts in Ilex forest and that would be okay. Snorunts could probably be found in the Ice Path to get a Froslass. Basically if its within reason, I think anything he catches is fine. Also I think he should try to catch more than 6 pokemon. From this tournament he should now be aware that some of his mons could get injured during the league and won't be able to use them in later rounds.

Tanner

Could always find a rotom when Redi's Porygon goes into some appliance as a curiosity as it gains more independent thought

Steven

As for future team members, for sam I have always been a fan of some of the more material ghosts like the aegislash, or either polteageist/sinistea or gholdengo although not sure how he would evolve a gimmighoul out of region, but I feel they could possibly be found in some museum to find, and yamask, golett could be maybe found in some ruins, phantump/revenant in old deep forest, sandygast on a beach, he could find someone to trade/or give him a shedninja, For redi, she could use a flyer like spearow, which I think would suit her personality or galaran linooe, or whismur or even kecleon, Tauros, dunsparse, rufflet, litleo

Incarnated Whisp

Runerigus scares me conceptually. I'm pretty sure that it isn't actually the Yamask, but the spirit inside of the Galarian Yamask's tablet that's now possessing it.

Incarnated Whisp

Any Ghost Types that aren't Legendary, Mythical, Paradox, or Ultra Beast are effectively up for the running. The biggest factor for team picks is how realistically I can justify the species.

t3chn0fr34q

trevenant its one of the best „modern“ pokemon and it ha sthe best shiny.

Drasolvent

Redi might be in some hot water. Lol. As for the team situation, I've been a Basculegion over Jellicent advocate day one, due to Last Respects as well as the challenges of having a literal fish on the team where most battles take place on land during its Basculin phase. Maybe a Ghost/Grass for the basic Starter Type core, but I don't have as strong an opinion on those. Then maybe Runeregis due to how obscure the method of evolution is. Maybe Galarians don't really know how Galar Yamask evolve due to how specific it is at this time. Finally, Hisui Zorua/Zoroark is such a shit post of a mon with being Normal/Ghost is such a want despite me having no idea of how it can happen other than wait 9 years for Sinnoh underground to open up like in Type Specialist.

Tanner

Tftc! Are you wanting to try and get more ghost types that are rarer or not known as well?

Steven

Thanks for the chapter
