A lot of Undertale's initial popularity was people who already knew Toby Fox as a composer, including but not limited to from his work on Homestuck. They were already expecting the soundtrack to be this good; the quality of the gameplay and story were relatively a surprise.

You said that it sounds like ragtime. Buddy⦠this some was one of the first swing rhythms I ever heard, thank you for listening to it, even if it took 3 years the wait was worth it.

You're starting to hear enough Undertale songs to notice the ridiculous web of motifs. There are sooo many songs that are connected and funny enough both these songs have sections you've heard. Dummy and Spider Dance is pretty obvious but Waterfall can be heard towards the end of Battle With A True Hero (very sped up though so it's not as obvious). Also to answer your question yes Undertale was that big after 5 years. In fact it was that big in less than 1 year and it's as insane as it sounds this game BLEW UP

Yeah this was a fully undertale concert that was actually conductorless. It's a full 1 hr+ orchestra and honestly you should react to the full thing if possible. Not all the songs are there but would be good to hear your reaction, then your reaction to the original songs.

YES! One of my favorite tracks! Itβs one of the few boss themes Iβve heard outside of Cuphead that kinda sounds like Big Band
