I think a character as skilled as Kuriva haven't tried it yet. I know it's easy to say Toph and other members from the first show are so unbeatable it wouldn't be a fair fight but we saw kuriva take out a lot of people early in this season with as much effort as toph used. I think the biggest difference is I take toph's claims of being so much stronger than her daughters as a joke and I think a large reason for toph success this episode was a surprise attack her daughters didn't have the advantage of. Toph said it herself she was sore from her sparring with korra. A prolong fight with kuriva would have proven an issue

A lot of people ask why Julie still carried the pin with her but fail to realize how much security is around let alone jr working right next to her the risk she took to try and stop it also where is she gonna dispose it at? Lol I’m sure she has eyes on her all the time. Think about it if it was easy she would have gotten rid of it no doubt she’s a smart girl but there probably wasn’t an opening.

You're overestimating Toph a bit. I think Kuriva might be able to figure out some things in a one on one battle, primarily just staying off the ground so Toph doesn't know where to attack.

I'm not too sure if you guys know this.... but its been stated by the CREATORS, that Kuviras skill is equal to Toph in her PRIME. So dont go sleeping on Kuvira. She's tougher than you think.

The beauty of earth bending for me stems from the way Toph taught Aang how to earth bend. The way she described it as if the power comes from positive aggression. It feels inherently rough, controlled, and so satisfying to watch. So now almost every scene with earth bending, I’m forever like “damn, that’s awesome.”

Fun fact, the railway cannon in this episode is basically a replica of the nazi germany 1941 Schwerer Gustav railway cannon. It is the largest artillery piece ever made, with the biggest cannon ever shot, with the heaviest shells. Because of the impracticality it was not used that much, as the entire train was a mile long, it took a lot of time to set up, and circular tracks had to be laid down near the frontline for the cannon to rotate. and aim from. It managed to take out an ammunition depot that was 30m(90ft) under a sea with 10m (30ft) of concrete protection. Essentially being a real world rail gun as it is portrayed here in avatar

No way on gods green earth would she stand 50/50 with prime Toph. If Suyin contended that strongly with Kuvira, and Toph thought suyin was not very great at metalbending, I think Toph would ELIMINATE Kuvira in her prime no diff

Kuvira might not be my favorite villain but you gotta give her a little more respect than that. Just based on the narrative Kuvira would probably have a 50/50 split of beating toph in her prime, and probably a 70/30 split for old toph.

I think the Toph vs. Kuvira thing is a little more equal than your giving credit for. Remember Toph literally got a back ache from beating up a PTSD ridden avatar. The creators have actually commented on this and said: “Toph would give Kuvira a good fight but overall there is no class system.” So basically the fight’s winner depends on the circumstances of the environment & how ready each participant is. Personally why I never liked the whole “versus” thing.
