I'm 3 years late but I came here to say this - the female titan is crying because she was so close to retrieving eren and putting a stop to this mission. she didn't WANT to continue it

Not to mention the fact that Levi was never shown to be in the vicinity of Ivan's corpse. The guy lost the corpse during the chase after all.

Fun fact but really really sad fact: The patch that Levi gave the soldier wasn't Ivans but was actually Petra's (you can tell bc Levi took the patch off of the smallest body on Levi squad before Ivan's body was even recovered), which makes the scene where her dad was talking to Levi about marriage even harder to watch.

Yea you’re right, that’s what I was implying. It also seemed like she rushed the mission as she was the only one of the three who were involved with this attempt. Manga readers know even more about why this attempt was so important to *female Titan user*

My interpretation has always been that she was crying because she failed her mission and Eren escaped, even after everything that took place. I think I know what you're talking about though.

I was rly hoping Kenny would pick up on this one moment with the female Titan at the end of the fight but I don’t think he did. The female Titan is actually crying out of sadness as Levi and Mikasa were flying off after saving Eren, not due to pain from the fight. It’s a rly important moment of the *female titans* character, especially as you learn more as the seasons go on

It's implied that Petra had feelings for Levi, yes, but they weren't engaged.

Ok need to know if I understood correctly, but when Petra's dad was talking to Levi did he hint at the fact they were engaged?!? If so that makes it even more heart breaking from Levi's point of view.
