"You dont get to choose, you have been chosen" is probably my favourite Line in the Show because it made completely re evaluate the Chosen one torpe and its Implication. Plus its a direct Statement what Adoras Story in this SHow is about. The deconstruction of said Trope.

I didn't read tbe comic (I hear not good reviews) but this fit a little but but I also think there's other elements in play. Animating mass army scenes is a lot of money and it's possible that for yhe season 1 finale the guards and others were helping with the natural disasters going on

To your question about the Brightmoon guards not fighting in the S1 finale: this is something that comes up in the comics (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, about this or the rest of this comment) and is also mentioned in s1:E3 Razz, but the princesses are essentially each kingdom's sole defense and oppositional units. Their use of the elemental magic compensates for a lack of formal army. Some have structural/natural defenses for their kingdoms, like the Sea Gate and Whispering Woods, but otherwise that's pretty much it. Brightmoon (like Salineas and the Kingdom of Snows) has guards for the castle, but those guards didn't fight in the finale because they aren't recognized as members of an army. The rebellion exists and they fight the Horde directly, but they aren't formally recognized as an army either. Just resistance fighters with more of a tight-nit and organized way of fighting. Not quite army, but also not quite random operatives running around. I think the Horde is the only power that has formal armies on Etheria. But, could be wrong about all of this and would love any other confirmation.

While it does make sense for language to not be an ingrain ability, First One tech is advance enough where I can see "they developed their writing in such a way where all biological descendants can read it" is a possibility.

animating a horse is known to not be an animator's favorite thing so I wonder if the use of Swift Wind was limited

Maybe we need a "Swiftwind is just a taxi" counter. I kinda think he'd have something to say on this, but all we got was horse noises and he's only in the episode to give Adora a ride.

While I agree that sword-contact fits better for "has new mysterious ability", we don't really know because her first encounter with First Ones writing was /after/ touching the sword.

This honestly makes more sense because being from a place doesn't immediately make you able to read that language. Like, if I were born in America but raised in Germany, my being from America doesn't mean I can instinctively read English, lol

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Adora gained the ability to read First One's writing after she became She-ra. I used to think it was because she's a First One, but after rewatching the series I realized it made more sense if that ability came from the first time she picked up the sword.
