In the episode where we get Mikasa's backstory, you see her and her mom doing embroidery. In the manga, this instead had them using traditional Japanese tattooing instruments and Mikasa with a bandage on, but the animators thought that would be kind of taboo to show that for a kid and so changed it because they didn't know that it was supposed to be important.

Remember. Levi is not royalty because he is not asian. Mikasa is half ackermann and half Hizuru, while Levi is full ackermann, which is unrelated to the asians

Demon Slayer is an easy way to get more subscribers, because it's a "hot" show at the moment. It would also introduce Montana to sakuga, now that she's an expert in CG. However, I'd like to put my vote for Full Metal Alchemist Broterhood and Death Note for anime reactions.

I see Steven Universe get recommended a lot, but personally, it has way too much slice of life/standalone episodes to make it a good reaction series. Maybe if they curate the episodes and skip most of the filler.

Not sure what other definition there would be of romance in media aside from where one or more characters show an explicit romantic interest in someone else. This is not a romance or slice of life anime so romance would definitely not be the focus here, but yes there is definitely romance in this anime, examples in the original comment. Not sure how you can get more romance than "what am I to you?" and "My only regret is that I didn't get to marry you" and so on.

Yeah Levi is definitely not Asian, Mikasa is half Asian. Her looking different from the rest of the people in Paradis is mentioned several times. The guys trying to kidnap her and her mom are literally talking about how she'll fetch a good price because she's exotic and there aren't many of her ethnicity around. Presumably, this is the reason they decided to target them in the first place and wanted to kill her dad and take both the women.

I don't want to spoil anything for you, so I'll just say if you're caught up to the anime episodes, you may have some more material about this. Levi and Petra were not really a thing, but I think Petra talks so much about Levi and in terms that imply to her dad that she and Levi are a thing. Definitely one-sided there but valid.

Mikasa's mother is from the eastern clan, while her father is an Ackermann. So no, Levi would have no relation to the eastern clan, Ackermann's aren't eastern.

Jeans is only half true as up to this point he has shown zero romantic interest to Mikasa besides one off and season one barely the only thing of romance I could say is probably Levi and Petra but even then it is only alluded to. Most "romance" in the show is fan conjecture and slight hints by the story nothing really outright

Fun fact! that armband that mikasa is shown to wear in this episode is drawn on her since the first issue of the manga, but the animators never bothered to draw it because they didn't know it was important! just shows Isayamas genius

I am a little thrown off by folks saying there isn't romance in this show. Jean is shown early on to have an explicit romantic interest in Mikasa. Eren and Mikasa's relationship doesn't seem super platonic. Bertholdt clearly had a thing for Annie and now Armin does (and it seemed to be somewhat reciprocated at least from the first season), not to mention our queens Ymir and Historia, and now also Niccolo seemed to have a thing for Sasha. There's a lot of romance going on here, despite it not being the forefront of things too much because, you know, dire situation and war.

"There's no romance in this show, really." Yeah, the most unrealistic part of this show isn't the 50m meat mechs, its that a bunch of teenagers in close proximity and a high stress situation aren't dating each other constantly. It must be like Gossip Girl in those barracks.

Yeah, it's not maniacal but the sub is definitely more clearly laughing. Connie calling it out explicitly makes it even more obvious that it was a laugh to everyone who could see his face. The dub makes it seems like a laugh that could be a sob.

Levi isn’t a descendent of the eastern clan. Mikasa is from her mother’s side of the family. Where Mikasa is an Akerman because of her father’s side of the family.

I don’t think it’s an accident that Eren makes his threat right after the flashback of him arguing against using the rumbling. Both scenes are of Eren desperately wanting another solution that frees paradis without using the rumbling, he’s literally asking Hangie to stop him.

Just a lil thing, Levi's related to Mikasa through the Ackerman clan, not the Eastern clan, Mikasa's mother was part of the Eastern clan and father the Ackerman clan, and Levi's mother was an Ackerman (we dont know about farther I don't think, so technically could be I guess). But ye, Levi unfortunately isn't actual royalty, just a king in our hearts.
