Hey Kenny and Montana, just wanted you to know that the wall titans were made so they could still move at night. Also I remember you saying that each wall is the same size as the United States, but if you simply flip the attack on Titan map upside down you will see that Paradis is just real world Madagascar. I’m a fan so just had to let you know.

I don't think that argument can take place because Erwin would have never let it get this far. Erwin with Bertholdt's knowledge and the power of the colossal titan? Season 3 would have been the last episode of bloodshed we'd ever see.

If you're a person who studies psychology and human behavior, there is no better show that dives into that than Death Note. I was voting for FMA at first, but I'm very interested to see your discussions on arguably one of the greatest explorations of a psychological profile ever created

Probably. Yes. Characters like Erwin are portrayed as admirable even at their most deplorable. You might be appalled by some of Erwin's attitudes or actions, but the man has this ineffaceable allure to him. Floch is a twisted version of Erwin's ideology. In terms of personality he's closer to Zachary or Gross.

If I had to pick one of those series to pull me in with 2 episodes I'd easily say Death Note. If I went to 5 episodes I'd say it's close between Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note but probably still Death Note. Demon Slayer is amazing too but it gets so much better as it goes on vs the early parts, though those are fine too. I'd personally say the right choice is Death Note but any of the 3 are good picks, they're all great series.

I believe everyone should watch anime as they see fit, whether it be dub or sub. Its a personal choice 100%. That being said, I believe watching this episode specifically in dub really showcases to me why I like the sub so much more. For me, at least, a lot of the emotions aren't really conveyed as well through the voice acting. The dub VA's did their all here, but I still think it sounds so wooden compared to the subbed version.

My vote is for FMA:Brotherhood Demon Slayer is VERY PRETTY to look at and can rival Wit/Mappa's animation anyday. Music is also very great and the show is written to make you FEEL. Show is also ridiculously popular that youtube algo's may work or against you on that regard. Downside is it's far from over (not even halfway) and it's not really that deep of complex. Death Note while thought provoking and loldeep, became boring for me eventually. It just felt watching a writer and characters circlejerk with the shows concept and themes. There are far better thought provoking anime out there (sans nostalgia goggles) e.g. PsychoPass, GitS, Steins Gate, Monster, Beastars, Odd Taxi, etc. Death Note does have a definite ending tho. Is still very popular, and the gateway anime for a lot of people from my generation and younger. My vote for FMA is because it straddles both. It has the adventure, action, and animation of top shonen like Demon Slayer, and it has thought provoking themes, story, and characters without it's head going so far up it's own arse. And it still has one of the most satisfying endings in anime. It does have a rocky ep 1 tho imho, especially after seeing the first FMA anime. But that's just me.

One thing you guys may have not considered in that discussion is that the world views Marleyans as one group, there never were good Marleyans and bad Marleyans. If a group attacks you and people from that same group stop them, you would reasonably thing that whole group has got to go, not that the good ones from the group will probably keep the rest in line. The fact that the Marleyans have started the Rumbling in itself will mean one way or another, the world will unite to wipe them out completely, probably covertly.

Dont forget about ep11s end credit scene! Also the 8 OVA eps tht came out after Season 1 are finally being dubbed. I feel a couple of the eps will b a lil redundant since we already know alot now, but it still b great to get a lil more "personal" with the characters.

Fair point, though I feel Hange is aware of this. She knows it's not a black-and-white situation. Despite her desire for self-preservation and the survival of her people, she is making the hard decision to stop Eren and his genocide. I think that ties in to the whole "escape the forest" theme, and having to take action/responsibility to break the cycle of hatred. That made me like her more because she is making the best decision she can in the face of such terrors.

While Historia is forcefully used as a baby maker to conintue the Royal Blood Line so Marley can use them. Worst Case is They all Litertally get genoicded which is what they are facing. SO IN THIS SPECIFIC SITUATION. It's Either You Yourself Genoicded the Rest of the world that said they will kill you. Or you Die. Its That simple and its easy for us the audience to say "Then there is no option to survive" Cause we aren't faced with reality Eren is facing. It is "IF I don't do this My People, My Family, My Loved Ones, My friends Will all Die or be enslaved" So yes its only Human to choose your friends over no named people whos faces you never meet.

Vote: Death Note! Episode Commentary: I just want to say this is where I really started disliking Hange Character. Because yes she is rigtht that Genociding the entire world is Unoquivcally wrong. However she is looking at this as black and white when it isn't that simple and jean Posed his question but she never refsued to answer just threw it back in his face "Genoicde is wrong!!!" Yeah no duh Hange but if the world is determined that you are, your family, loved ones and Race of people are going to die no matter what. Then what do you do? Bend over and take it? Like Hange here had me so annoyed. Arging that Genocide is wrong while they(the eldians of paradise) themselves are about to be genoicded if they don't do anything is a bad argument and no wonder she couldn't change any of the Jagerist minds.

i just want to clear up or throw into the mix of theory that since eren is the founder think of him as god of the titans at this point. if eren wants titans to be functional during the night he can write that into existence the same way they could have made all eldians infertile. also think back to i think last episode where its night time and every one is in a different bedroom looking out the window. the rumbling is STILL happening as jean holds his ears not to hear it. night or day the march continues

As far as I know, production info shows the tree shots were genuinely just a creative choice. It’s likely they saved time as a byproduct, but that was not the motive behind the decision.

This wasn't a bad episode but I'm a little disappointed with it. The animators were told to "chill out" with the animation on this one and as a result gave us some interesting changes in character in a few of our characters from the manga events. For example Jean and Mikasa show MUCH more emotion throughout the majority of the chatting scene with mikasa STILL adamant against killing eren at this point, some of the "look at this table or window as we talk in the background". Just some stylistic and emotion changes really

When Jean says "Of course" I actually DO think it shows it was kind of a guarantee. I'm not saying the Warriors and Magath couldn't have done something to alienate him, but I think Jean was almost definitely always going to help stop Eren. He spends the episode getting past his emotions, starting right with his dream life in the beginning, but I think it was because he knew what he had to do that it was especially rough to let that dream go. As he says, Jean will always be a scout, and the Scout's insignia, the Wings of Freedom, fly for humanity, not just Paradis. It's heartbreaking, and a testament to the ultimate No-Win scenario that Isayama created.

The had a lot of camera work on the trees to save time on animation for the episode to focus on the rest of the season (since Kenny pointed it out earlier) Question for episode 10: What are your thoughts on the main scouts going against all their friends (the Jeagerists)? There doesn't seem to be much of a choice between siding with them or fighting against them. How do you think this will impact their characters and solidify their motivation going forward?
