With all the movie references in the opening, how many can you spot?
Eileen Hinman
What are your initial impressions of the different types of devils we saw in this episode and how their ‘personalities’ vary? Pochita, the tomato devil, the zombie devil, etc.?

In this episode we saw/heard of (1) Denji’s work and the black market (2) Official Devil Hunters and (3) Denji as a kid recognized pochita as a devil. Based on other media or what real life political/socioeconomic implications would look like, how do you anticipate this dynamic playing out between both ‘markets?’ Public opinion on devil hunting and awareness to devils? What benefits or drawbacks do you foresee? How do you compare this to demon slayer - how everything is behind the scenes and demons are mostly fables? (Later on) how would you compare this with Jujutsu sorcerers and curses?

I have two questions if that’s cool: What are your thoughts about the visuals in both the opening and the first episode? And how do you feel that the atmosphere and tone of this series compares to other series that you’ve reacted to?

Denji has very simple goals and dreams. The Yakuza desired more power, and made a deal with a Devil that didn't go the way they planned. Do you think the level of these desires - a normal, happy life vs. open-ended power - is being deliberately contrasted?

Where do you see the anime going, with a Character with such simple dreams and goals?

In the episode, it’s established pretty early on that Denji comes from a life of poverty and abuse from the adults around him. How, exactly, do you think this kind of childhood/formative years might affect his worldviews or opinions, and his character as a whole?
