This board was donated by Gyrrus about a year ago along other ones. He was worried it was taking too long to deliver the core, but it’s finally here. These things just take time. We also approached the hardwarestarting with Kicker, and working our way through more complex boards. There are still a couple of related systems we want to do.
Track & Field presents six different competitions: 100 meter dash, long jump, javelin throw, 110 meter hurdles, hammer throw and high jump. These are different from the seven that came in Hyper Sports. The game had a huge impact in the industry and soon other games imitated it, like Daley Thompson's Decathlon or the Summer Games from Epyx. Konami eventually released one more arcade game in the genre: Konami ‘88 in much more powerful hardware.
The System16 core has been unstable during this week as I have been trying to fix a bug related to the CPU memory bus. I checked in a new version today. Please let me know if you find any more problems.

Yes I always save the settings in the OSD and still get corrupted high scores when I reload the game. Also the 100 metres and the 110 metre hurdles won't record any times at all unless I do the DIP switch changes I mentioned above.

You need to save the settings in the OSD each time you want to record them. I haven't been able to reproduce a corruption in the high scores but I'll double check in case I'm doing something wrong there.

Jose, can you explain how you get your high scores and records to save in Track and Field please. I have tried deleting the nvram save file, start up the game, in the DIP settings turn off Don't erase records, reset the game, back in DIP settings turn on Don't erase records. Seems to work ok, but when you reload the game all the records and high scores are corrupted.

It's a lot of work as there's no generic way of doing it. I added it here because this core was potentially more problematic than others.

When the slowdown occurs, try releasing the magic. There's something odd going on there, but I haven't been able to caught it yet. I'm working on it

Currently Golden Axe has severe slowdown in turtle village (experienced with US rom and 2 players). Also the screen rocks up and down as if it were the water. Could be mistaken but don't think this should happen.

Thanks for implementing a forced 60hz option on this and Hyper Sports – it allows me to play the cores on my B&O CRT. I for one would love this option to be added to all JT cores.

Thanks for this JT. Made my Easter weekend. It was the first arcade PCB I ever owned and it came as a Hyper Olympic. Got me down a rabbit hole and before I knew it I had a chip programmer, some blank ICs and I was burning roms to turn it into a Track & Field. Haven't looked back since.
