This is a cute two-player game that reminds of Labyrinth Runner and CAPCOM's Avengers. The cop duo of the diminutive Smith and the taller Wesson (over the pistols Smith & Wesson), who can't help but shoot when they have a gun, shoot, shoot, shoot to protect their town from bank robbers RED GANG! This is Konami's signature character shooter game. It is one of those hidden games that not many people know. Check it out!
Cores promoted to public
The Final Round arcade core has been renamed to JTFROUND as it is clear now that it will not work easily on the same core as Konami's Twin16 titles. As this core will not see more titles added, it is promoted to public. It still has a minor graphical glitch at the end scene, but I will tackle it on the JTTWIN16 core, which shares that part of the logic.
As part of the consolidation work done on cores, the games Tiger Road and F1 Dream work now on the same core: JTTORA. 1942, Pirate Ship Higemaru and Vulgus operate now off the JT1942. And all Super Basketball game versions work on the same JTSBASKT core. This change is transparent to MiSTer users, but Pocket users get support for F1 Dream with this week's update as a side effect.
JTS16, supporting SEGA System 16A games, which was a beta for the Pocket, is now public. JTNINJA, supporting Dragon Ninja and Heavy Barrel is also promoted to public.

Core maintenance
- The Simpsons: 2P versions work correctly on the Pocket. There was a problem in how the save file with the settings was generated. This caused the game to crash when trying to load the corrupted file generated in a previous run. MiSTer version was ok all along. All versions get a sound mix re-balance (less loud FM)
- Karate champ: added support for linking two joysticks (as original hardware). Some versions of the game produced very slow voice samples. These versions have different PCM logic compared to the versions for which we have schematics. I have modified them to use 3.57MHz as the Z80 clock instead of 3MHz. This is an educated guess based on other hardware from the era. This change produces nicer PCM effects on those versions. The versions for which we have schematics did not show this problem and have not seen any change in this update.
- Block Block: MiSTer version of JTPANG core was not saving settings correctly. This has been fixed.
- TMNT: the metallic sound problem introduced last week is fixed.
- Section Z/Commando: fixed the DIP switch order in MAME. As I use MAME to get the DIP information, I need that to be accurate. Fixing it in MAME means that it will eventually be reflected in our MRA files. The MAME team accepted the fix.
- New logo: MiSTer and Pocket cores sport a better looking JT logo
ROM names changed
Because some games had name clashes in the ROM files, the 8-character limit in the .rom file name has been removed. This means that the .rom files now matched the MAME set names but it also implies that you are likely to rename (or regenerate) your .rom files. This affects all platforms except MiSTer, which uses MRA files instead of .rom files.
Easier beta key handling
Pocket files for beta cores include a checksum for the beta key file now. This will allow updaters to warn the user when the wrong beta file is used. This should ease the setup process.
MiSTer MRA files also include it, but the MiSTer firmware will not warn you if the CRC is not met so it does not help much.

El dúo de policías formado por el diminuto Smith y el más alto Wesson (referencia a las pistolas Smith & Wesson), que no pueden evitar disparar cuando tienen un arma, disparan, disparan, disparan para proteger su ciudad de los ladrones de bancos ¡La banda GANG ROJA! Núcleos liberados
El núcleo arcade The Final Round ha sido renombrado a JTFROUND, ya que ahora está claro que no funcionará fácilmente en el mismo núcleo que los títulos Twin16 de Konami. Mantenimiento de núcleos

- Sección Z/Commando: arreglado el orden de los interruptores DIP en MAME. Como utilizo MAME para obtener la información DIP, necesito que sea exacta. Arreglarlo en MAME significa que acabará reflejándose en nuestros archivos MRA. El equipo de MAME aceptó la corrección.
- Nuevo logotipo: Los núcleos para MiSTer y Pocket lucen un logotipo JT más atractivo.
Nombres de ROM cambiados
Debido a que algunos juegos tenían conflictos de nombres en los archivos ROM, se ha eliminado el límite de 8 caracteres en el nombre del archivo .rom. Esto significa que los archivos .rom ahora coinciden con los nombres de los juegos de MAME, pero también implica que es probable que tengas que renombrar (o regenerar) tus archivos .rom. Esto afecta a todas las plataformas excepto MiSTer, que utiliza archivos MRA en lugar de archivos .rom.

When odd things like that have happened to me, I have just turned the device off, eject and re-insert the SD card and power on again. SD cards are not the most reliable device and it sometimes does not get inserted correctly.

Anybody loaded up open FPGA and when trying to select anything from the menu the screen goes back to the previous screen? Like you can't go into any of the selections for any of the cores.

I assume you are using MiSTer. The right folder to copy jtbeta.zip to is /games/mame Make sure you only have one mame folder as MiSTer may only look for the jtbeta.zip in one of them, or you may have an old copy in one of the folders

I would say that the ROM files are not correct. If you don't mind tinkering, you can check the MD5 sum of the files generated. It is written in the MRA files (look for asm_md5). That should match the one your .rom file produces.

Pocket: After finally play gang busters and crime fighters they load, but simply are not playable, screen is garbled on crime fighters and gang busters shows not much besides the game logo with some black bars. Aliens and Contra work fine tho. Is this maybe a "merging error" on my side? Took the MRAs from the JTBIN and the rest from the latest Pocket.zip Any ideas anyone?

@JOTEGO, what would it take to have a turbo as a granular option on the Pocket? I know some ppl are against it...that being said, no one is forcing it on them on mister, and I see it more as an accessibility feature especially for 80s arcade hardware. Can only Analogue do something? if so, it feels like only devs like you could reach out to them about it. as usual, thank you👍

I hope it's ok to ask here as this game is not Jotego's core.. Is Wonderboy arcade still working for anybody? I'm on the latest Mister unstable, and I've deleted and redownloaded the MRA and game ROM.zip and upon loading, the game stays on a black screen not crashed, GUI still accessible, thanks.

Use a new SD card on your Pocket for this, as you may end up corrupting files in your regular SD installation. It may be the best to give a few days to the maintainers of the update tools to catch up.
