Rumbling Super Stars
🕑 Added 2024-09-06 19:52:07 +0000 UTCDo you remember the thrill of stepping into the arcade as a kid, hearing the roar of the crowd and the iconic entrance music of your favorite WWF wrestlers? WWF Superstars, released by Technos Japan in 1989, was the game that brought all of that action to life.
It was the first WWF arcade game, and it had everything: real WWF legends, their signature moves, and even their classic entrance poses. You could tag team up with two of the six iconic wrestlers, including Hulk Hogan—whose name and size paid homage to the TV superhero, The Hulk. And who could forget Big Boss Man, the larger-than-life character inspired by his real-life background as a corrections officer, complete with his law enforcement uniform?
One of the best parts? You didn’t have to stick to just the ring. You could take the fight outside, grab a folding chair, and really make it feel like the wild, no-holds-barred chaos of WWF. This was was pure WWF entertainment, filled with all the drama and action. It was so popular that by January 1990, it topped the arcade charts in North America.
Although our work on the schematics will still take at least five more weeks to finish, we have now enough to make JTWWFSS, an FPGA core compatible with WWF SuperStars. It enters the beta phase for all platforms roday
Other Updates
New Pocket beta: JTRUMBLE, compatible with "The Rumble Runner". With this one, JT cores have the same presence on MiSTer and A. Pocket
Turbo function for Double Dragon re-instated and core stability improved (no more hangups at the game end). Turbo is always on for the Analogue Pocket version, whereas you have to enable it on the OSD menu for MiSTer and other platforms
Circus Charlie stars correctly fall behind the score when the screen is flipped
Sunset Riders: objects appearing out of the window frame fixed
JTLABRUN for A. Pocket promoted to public
We had to re-open and review the problem with SF2X in the JTCPS2 core. With the help of Paulb-nl, it should be solved for good this time
Shinden LightGun sent us four guns. We are looking into supporting these devices on the Laser Ghost game (a SEGA System 18 title) for the JTS18 core
Thanks for your continuous support.

figured it out you have to use the beta file that is most recent not the on linked on the game currently trying to play

hello everyone,
Lamar Fiddy
Hey JT :) Thank you for all your work :D just got a Mister Pi so I'm part of the economy now lol
JOTEGO
Thank you for taking the time to report it. We have created an issue to track it on GitHub. https://github.com/jotego/jtcores/issues/805 Let us look into it.

Yay WWF SuperStars!! Tho, I am confused about the button setup. On the title screen is references Button A (1P vs CPU), B (1P vs 2P) and C (1P/2P vs CPU). So far, I have only been able to get Start to do anything (regardless of number of non-zero credits entered), appearing to be tired to Button A. In the button setup it references Right Attack, Left Attack and Jump. During game play, Ive only been able to notice (Left Attack) Punch and (Jump) Kick with no Jump (Right Attack doing nothing)... Am I just missing something? How do you start different game modes? As I said before I am VERY HAPPY with what you have brought to the table, and look forward to new (often refreshing memories) game options to play (again)!!

the yellow JT image bleeds on the right side of the screen on WWF with the new update?
Grant Kerber
Same here. Not sure what's going on with that.
Mysterious Benefactor
Played through WWF Superstars and had an absolute blast. Thanks so much for getting it working. It's amazing seeing all of those wrestlers in Tecmo house style, with some beautifully drawn frames of animation.
Big Al.
I always use the merged set, that way it works with the alternative versions, I'm not sure what set I have.
SlowedHarmony71
Yes, on the right side.
Wayne
Anyone getting a red line horizontal on wwf superstars ?
Wayne
Pocket updater fetches all relevant roms ie wwf superstars
Joey
Is the mame romset from the merged .217 set?
taal.M
Update all doesn't download roms
Big Al.
add the rom manually if that happens.
Findamember
Thanks a lot JT for another great update. Good to see another Technos title in our FPGAs
John Perry
thanks for these great work - the volume on WWF seems to be exceptionally low?
Adam Davis
Did the same thing for me with Moonwalker … I’m thinking something is going on with the ROM repository …. Needed to download the Moonwalker ROM old school to get it to work. For now recommend getting the ROM manually.
Adam Davis
For sure dude, totally agree 🤙🏼
Joey
For some reason, Update all is having some kind of error getting the mame rom for WWFSuperstars. I'm thinking it has something to do with the respiratory from where it's linked.
Turboman UK
OMG - any light gun support is much appreciated kind sir and JT team. Got myself a Sinden just for the MiSTer and it’s so so so so so good.
David Nicolet
Same thing for me, I have the same error message. For jt circus too. Too bad..
MEM3NTO
This is an all time classic game for me, grew up playing it in the arcades as a kid. Thank you so much Jotego. Every release is bringing Nostalgia Ultra

Thanks for fixing SF2X!
Richard Maxey
Nice release! That was the best Wrestling time period
Tim Oaks
Thanks so much for this! Any chance you will make your own core for Wrestlefest since the current core apparently isn't coming to Mister?
Rafael
Looking forward to seeing support for the Sinden lightgun!
Bart394
Looking forward to Sinden Light Gun game support!
Rick S.
Thank you, I'll be patient. As long as it's not just me.
Dick Hardpill
MAME251 if that helps
Dick Hardpill
I get the same error and I checked the usual download location and the file does not appear to be there. Sometimes they get pulled for one reason or another. My only suggestion is to have patience and it should be available soon. Though the usual place may be changing soon. ETA- I found an archive of MAME 251... wwfsstarua.zip needs to be renamed to wwfsstar.zip and put in /media/fat/games/mame. Watching the attract mode right now.
Rick S.
I still get the error. other arcade cores are fine, just this new one has an erroe.
OldManBog
You guys did it again, thank you!
Shannon Thomasson
Thank you !
Nathan Michael Hardie
I can’t find the WWF game? Also, has anyone seen Joust?
RetroMister

Rick S.
when I try to run WWF Superstars, i get an error games/mame/wwfsstar.zip/24j3-0.24j3--0.119 not found
Mat Azel
OMG, Steel Gunner on Namco System 2 would be so much fun woth guns on mister thank you so much for the update, gonna take the analogue Pocket to a wrestle fan friend of mine tommorrow see what he thinks😁
James Wyld
amazing work as always one of my fav games.. having problems with sound seems very low? am i messing something to make it louder?
JC
JT doesn’t supply the roms, if Update All isn’t working, you’ll have to find them yourself and instal manually.
Adrien Duchemole
Wow, Xmas is early this year ... thanks a lot, i'm so glad to have Wwf Superstars AND Speed rumbler on the analogue pocket I believe Speed rumbler is a fantastic bad known game (well, it deserves more recognition) Just a word about Wwf, the game is only a 2 buttons game, so it's not needed to have 3 buttons configuration (I know, it's beta phase) Thanks again !!!
Michael Deutsch
WWF SuperStars was one of my arcade favorites when I was a kid and I have more time with it later via emulation. Thanks for the core and all your efforts towards preservation of the classics!

Michael Johnson
Magic - love the JT Friday show! Get shooting those Sinden guns!!!
Charles Dreiss
Very cool on the Sinden stuff! I've got 2, although my Mister is hooked up mainly to a CRT now days.
Espiox
The jtmidres core isn’t on Pocket yet, so not quite at parity with MiSTer yet.
Daniel Thomas Stack
Does the rom have an English region? I'd love to be able to read the bios they gave in the wrestling game.
Rick S.
Awesome to hear about future Sinden support, my first Sinden is on its way.
