Get the most bang out of your planting. One thing I enjoy is Fava Beans. They are a broad bean that is loaded with all the nutrients you need, will fill you up and has a lot of fiber & protein. Humans have been eating them for 8,000 years ( See Oppenheimer Ranch Project) recent video on YouTube. A really good thing to do is start these by planting them in used toilet paper rolls because when you put them outside the roll will add to your soil. Also these beans don't mind colder temps.
GET YOUR SEEDLINGS STARTED NOW! In Alaska you have a short growing season so the sooner you start the better. Packages that do not say (Heirloom or Organic) will NOT produce seeds that can be harvested and used later. Also look for vegetables that will grow the quickest.
