Hello JoAnne, in my opinion, your preps are much more important than pm's. Once you have all the preps you need then maybe think about preserving wealth with a bit of pm's.
As such a new prepper, silver and gold haven't made it to my stock yet!

Hello Scott, I don't weigh my junk because each piece has 90% Silver and you can go to "CoinMelt.com" which is a live site that tells you how much each coin that is 1964 and prior is worth in dollars given the live spot price. However, to weigh other precious metals coins or bars you can get a small coin scale on amazon that converts to troy grams and oz.
