A fan with good memory. :-o Nice. :-) And yes, with ... - the plague, - the colosseum and the “special class” in general, - the dungeon salamander and her warning that some days even she won’t be spared, - her own personal waking dungeon, - the new city district, - her maturing into a young women, - a great list of skills and scrolls waiting for her to be discovered or even invented such as the many she now has a right to in the library or her “seal” research or the wolf god manual or her ignored elements or the golems … - the librarian who noticed her excellence - her ongoing projects such as chess - the king showing interest in her, - the empress showing interest in her, - the law of the land rattling, - her status and involvement with the thieves and related entities, such as the bar running illusion master, - the “demon” who slaughtered a great deal of the army, - the army camping on their doorstep, - her first actual achievements into sword dance, - her slow brewing position with the 7 star church, - her smithing ventures and the seething conflict with her dwarf teacher, - the history teacher who mistook her for a spy, - the supposed but not real spy she befriended from the twin kingdoms ( who probably is high nobility in exile ) … and so on, there certainly are one hell of a lot open ends and unfinished plot lines, not the mention serious potential for a story/content/chapters in general, so it might make sense to stop building the lot in order to realize at least a few of them. Then again, he might also be building towards some kind of epic showdown.

She explicitly looks into it to see if there's a chance of bringing back her grandpa. She already knew about the "everything has a price" thing directly from the goddesses of Life & Death personally when they resurrected him after he got murdered. Remember the whole reason she has perception skills? They told her outright they could bend the rules a bit so the blindness wasn't permanent. The previous chapter and a half could have been a "Resurrection only works if a soul hasn't reached the other side yet, and if they've been dead a year without becoming undead it's successfully made the journey." I mean come on with plot already this plague arc has been over a year in the making.

I don't think this is about old men, but rather about there being a price - the principle of equal exchange, or balance in between life and death. We learn that Gods are of the lower-case "G" variety - they do have limits. We are also told that there is something after death, and that "mere mortals" are not to know about it. Furthermore, if you wondered as to why people in a realm of magic where there literally are Gods for life and death still die of age, sickness or simply by accident, you now got your answer. There need to be limits and rules – and laws, such as those of physics or this this case magics I guess . As you may recall, the very reason that realm managed to thrive is due to the law of the land. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that things exist because they were defined, or by extension that there are different realms because they are different. An interesting though if you consider quantum theories ... :-)

Did we really need a chapter and a half long explanation of why resurrection wouldn't work on the old man? These exposition dumps seem to be getting longer and longer.

... kind of reminds me of companies who would match their expanses for an installations safety measures against the per people coverage their chosen insurance contract offers.

Thank you for the Chapter.
