nicFW880 BETA 05E Release
🕑 Added 2025-10-20 11:22:29 +0000 UTCQuick note: please read the previous release notes if you haven’t already, I don’t repeat earlier items in these posts.
What’s new
Added Remote tab.
Important: BOTH firmware 05E and RMS 05E are required for this feature to work.
Remote tab behavior
When the Remote Connection is active, no other RMS tabs may be selected.
On startup the Remote display does not automatically refresh (there are too many possible states). To force a screen refresh, open and then close the menu (or otherwise trigger a redraw).
WARNING
RF energy in close proximity to the USB programming cable can fry the UART chip in the cable and cause it to crash, severing the link between the PC and the radio. Don’t post here reports like “it stops working when I press PTT”; they will not be well received.

Seeing as I don't have a Mac (and never will due to the ridiculous price) all I can do is compile for OSX and hope. There's nothing I can do if things don't work, it'll be down to other Mac users in the community to assist of they can, sorry.

FYI: the RMS universal macos app bundle is failing to launch for me. I've already removed quarantine, but it's giving me 'This application can't be opened' error.

Confirmed. I'll attempt a fix next release, probably a hold on scanning while a key is latched, that should sort it.

This issue has been around for a while...not sure if it can be fixed. When in tuner mode, I hold 1 or 3 to start a scan. While I'm holding the key, it scans frequencies much faster. So, every time I start a scan it is skipping over the first few frequencies until I let go of the button. It is the same when stopping a scan. If I hear a transmission and want to stop the scan manually, I press the red button, but before it stops scanning it quickly skips over the next few frequencies. Then, I have to go back multiple frequencies to get to the one I heard.
