This might be too late, but I may as well write it down! Your partner needs their robot arm maintained, and they trust you to do it. Part of the maintenance is to have the sensation transferred to your own throughout the day to 'feel' for any parts getting out of alignment. This also means you get to feel whatever your partner feels with that arm, even when they're away.
