I don't know if anybody has mentioned the Alan Partridge show that preceded this, called 'Knowing me, Knowing you....with Alan Partridge', that you might be able to react to. It was a fictional chat show series, which was only 6 episodes and 1 Christmas special long.

The aerial precedes the satellite dish, and was for picking up the national free TV back when it was "terrestrial" - as in sent by radio waves. Nowadays it's all digital though. Loved these Alan Partridge reactions, really looking forward to the next series. One thing that's great about this episode is how they never show what's inside the draw, leaving it up to the viewer to imagine what kind of filth it is.

Aerials were not replaced by Satellite TV dishes at all. Satellite dish’s are an additional option if you want upgraded viewing at a cost. Aerials are still used and will still be used for a long time.

Susan was just winding him up before when flirting because she knows it makes him flustered and uncomfortable, it seems to be one of those things that gets lost in translation and taken at face value with reactors in the US and I definitely get why

When Susan was flirting with him before she wasn't being serious she was doing it to wind him up it might be a British thing but winding people up is a way of coping with annoying people I have certainly done it in the past it's similar to when people crack a joke in a tense situation to relieve the tension. I have seen a few Americans react to this and never picked up on that they always thought she was being serious so I suggest this is a cultural thing.
