Well, technically the Loroi are always under martial law, as the government is military rather than civilian, but Greywind did seize a variety of civilian assets and establish direct government control over certain key industries. She did this because the Loroi were losing the war, and after almost two years, Loroi industry had still not spooled up to maximum war production capacity. In some cases companies were reluctant to transition production away from profitable civilian goods, and price gouging on military items was widespread. The degree to which some of the civilian plutarchs had "lost the meaning" was made clear when they tried to lead a coup against the government to maintain their profits. When this failed, the rest of civilian industry fell in line.

Hey Arioch, quick question, I read in the lore that the Loroi Emperor declared martial law, what was the rationalization for doing this?

Those Orgus with technical backgrounds (mainly the ship's crew) will have some basic knowledge about the weaponry used by the Umiak and some of their other trade partners in the Periphery, but they haven't had any interactions with the Loroi, and I doubt any of them have much expertise in combat tactics.

Hey there Arioch, got another quick question for you, did the Orgus refugees that made it to Human space happen to know of the main weapons and tactics of the major combatants?

It's been an intermittent thing over the last few days. I have the feeling that the provider is experiencing some kind of denial-of-service attack... I have noticed a lot of different services across the net have been up and down over the last few days. I'll follow up with them if it continues.

Armor types and styles varied widely over different time periods and different sub-cultures. In some cases shields and heavy armor were used, though they often preferred scale, maille and other flexible or highly segmented armor.
