Disney Needs to Review their Hiring Policies
🕑 Added 2024-04-29 14:51:23 +0000 UTCOne of the things many may not know is that we have a ton of information beyond what we have shared regarding the Evil Queen controversy at Walt Disney World. We know identities, we know things about exceptions made... and, of course, we're not going over the line and putting information out there that could put someone in danger by doing so. We would never do that. We are always extremely careful in treating others the way that we would want to be treated.
Sharing a family photo from Walt Disney World is about as far as we've gone, even though we could go much, much farther.
That said, what we know has led us to believe that there's a real problem with Walt Disney World's hiring practices and we think they should strongly reconsider whatever policies they have regarding background checks and social media posts by their cast members. In researching so much information that has been sent our way, we've found that a number of folks hired by Walt Disney World are expressing themselves in ways that surely the company could never justify nor tolerate. For example, one cast member we've been examining has a social media account that features Ariel topless in their public media gallery. We think that's a real problem that needs to be addressed by the company. Surely Disney disagrees with their characters being expressed in a profane way by their very own cast members.
It's for these sorts of reasons that we're going to continue exposing what is going on with Disney Parks and their casting choices. I'm not sure I want a cast member with a profane display of Ariel being near children. After all, Ariel is portrayed as a sixteen-year-old cartoon character in the movie. So it's beyond unacceptable that people interacting with young guests at Disney World have this sort of thing on display.
Now understand, as we dig into this story, there's going to be huge pushback. Already we've seen a massive (and inorganic) effort to slime the WDW Pro Channel and That Park Place. We know it's synthetic because of the commonality of the replies. Fifty percent of responses should all replicate the same idea. That's not the work of individuals giving their authentic reaction. But the reaction is commiserate with how big the story must be to whomever wants us to shut up. We won't do that.
Now, more than ever, we're going to need your support. We're looking into absolutely vile behavior that may have been allowed to exist and foment within the cast member ecosystem using the new Inclusion Key as a safeguard against appropriate scrutiny of extremely bad behavior. It's important that we expose what's going on now (in a safe way for all), lest we arrive a a future point where this has gone on unchecked and results in a bad actor being around kids when they definitely should not. I'm purposefully speaking in generalities here and not aiming this at any particular cast member. We're looking at patterns, not naming individuals. And, as always, we have no negative desire towards anyone. But we do want to keep kids safe.

So grateful for all the work you are doing to expose the very bad ideas currently being promoted by the Bob Iger company. On a historical note, at Disneyland, up until the early 1970s (about the time WDW first opened), the part of Peter Pan as a walk around character was played by a woman—a tradition that began at least 60 years earlier when the original JM Barrie play was being produced in London theaters. As you cited, women were chosen because their voices didn’t change, but also because a young woman who was old enough to play the part (legally) could look more convincingly like a 10-12 year old boy. It was my privilege in 1968 to be one of them. Still have not grown up.

My best understanding right now is that the Inclusion Key Disney introduced in the recent past is being exploited to great effect.

Human predators will do anything to make their prey feel safe. Does Disney do serious background checks before hiring or do they only check boxes?

Do you believe Disney is actively seeking out people of a very “woke inclination” to hire or is it that they are the only ones applying to work at Disney any longer? Does Disney have no choice but to hire anyone who applies now?
