His peers thought he should die. That's the system. Doesn't matter how many murderers he could have caught.
Ross Timbrook
Reichert is a joke, I’ve lived in WA my whole life and everyone laughs at him. A friend of mine calls him Dave noun verb green river killer Reichert. He made a career in a case that took years to solve then got whipped when he ran for governor.
Crime in Sports and Small Town Murder
Conversations with a Killer, the Ted Bundy one on Netflix!
Ross Timbrook
Does anyone know the name of the documentary with the guy who said “that boy needed to die?”
Baby Yaga
Personally, I think it’s a valid point. Whatever we can learn about what motivates these incredibly deviant predators could save lives in the long-term. If he’s afraid of dying, that *does* make executing him more appealing, but decades as a guest of the our penal system might make him long for death.
Libby Gendall
Loved this episode! And I love a good James rant about people's stupidity 😁
Kim Cox
Excuse for what?He killed a 12 year old. Among the college students. Just in Florida. 2 escapes. If he did that to females close to you would you say keep him alive? How about the detectives get a clue and solve their own crimes
Kim Cox
In the 70s Kings county in Washington sucked. Bundys gf made a few phone calls after the description of a guy named Ted the sketch drawing looked like him and drove a vw, they said no its not him. Facts from several books about Bundy. Count the number of women who would have lived after her phone calls started. Ann Rule called them same info , nope not him. They couldn't find a killer if the suspect walked in and say I did it.

Criminal profile: it’s a guide, not a cheat code.
Darcy Meyer
This is so cool. I had no idea any of this happened
Haley Walls
Totally agree with the insight we’ve lost by just killing these serial killers - there were so many insights and research we could’ve gained
Haley Walls
I guess the issue they have is the time they have to talk about each aspect so it’s limits how they approach things. Also I guess it’s what their objective is for the episode which was about the relationship between Bundy and the case of the GRK. I do agree with you, sex work does need to be talked about with more education but not sure on this episode…
Jo Troisi
OK, please nobody rip me apart for this, it’s just my own side opinion and I still love the guys and all of the podcast media that they put out. But was I the only one who’s a little bit disappointed at the way that the boys were talking about sex workers? I don’t think any of it was blatantly disrespectful, I just wish that there was a little bit more education around Sex work, why people do it, and using better language to describe people who are doing it, most of the time out of necessity. I’m sure the guys did not disrespect, I definitely did not get that vibe. I just wish that they may have chosen different wording. I guess I just think the word prostitute is pretty demeaning considering how it’s historically been used. Just my opinion, though, great episode nevertheless.

Ed Kemper is another who could have been very insightful. He was highly intelligent and helped the FBI on some cases as well.
Vickie Teachey-Thomas
Omg Same! I thought I was the only one who heard it like that 😅💜😅
Ryan Honey
Riverman, but every time you hear it it's ice T saying ZIMAH-MAN
Judy Cronje
Not taking into acccount whether he should have been executed or what his motives were, blah blah, but his insighs were very much like that of a proper profiler... scarey.
Heithem El-Hodiri
This episode is so good! Can’t wait for part 2! So good!
Bunny
Can yall do a Patron Episode on the Netflix Catfish Documentary???
Kerrie Ann OCONNOR
As an outsider, I’m fascinated by the US devotion to the death penalty. But Bundy/GRK is ok.
Brian The Food Guy
I think this it where you’re wrong. Using your own words about having Vulcan logic you’ve got to assume now that something other than death as a fear made Ted reach out. If you lock him up you can only threaten him so much before he starts feeding you bullshit and stringing you along. He knew this geography and person so well because that’s where he was doing work as well. Bundy reached out to stroke his own narcissism. He liked being the famous killer from that reason and simply wanted to be made relevant again. I love where you heads at but now you’ve got the assume that the shark is now simply going to take orders from the fish.

So glad you guys did this one ! I just finished reading Conversations with a Killer- so this was a great follow up for me. Thanks!
Fishblood
You guys are great!!!!!
Kathrynn
- Florida Sheriff (but seriously, executions will be after part 2 of GRK and Bundy, like they've said multiple times)
Jeremiah Murila
James southern accent is hilarious 😂😂😂!!!
Grace Luterek
I see you have a picture of Josh Allen. Are you from Buffalo, NY by chance?
Smitty
I wanted executions, who cares about bundy.
Fredrika Farfalu
Okay but would Bundy have made more escape attempts if he’d been kept around?
Dawn Shaw
I agree Melissa, I said this some time ago on the main page and a few people got upset. I figured he's in jail, rarely left the cell, and was under constant guard and shackled, when he did. He wasn't going anywhere, all he could do was help these families.
Melissa Bilotta
I agree that Ted Bundy could have been useful, way more than Charles Manson ever was. Bundy seemed to give honest insight rather than Manson’s bullshit rantings.
Amanda Naugle
Idk what it says about me, but I’m that fat sherif who agreed, “that boy had to die” lmao 😂😅
Rosemarie Cawkwell
Middle aged people walking dogs are major contributors to the 'finding corpses' statistics. It seems to be more common now than children out riding their bikes.
Cynthia R
At the time this was happening I was living in Tacoma, raising a young family and the news wasn’t great (and I was busy). So this is really fascinating to hear what was really going on!
Olivia Peterson
We got this title at the library I work at. First I thought it was intriguing, but now I mostly think it’s bogus.
Olivia Peterson
- Kids on bikes - Dogs being walked - Hunters in the woods All bad signs in a true crime case.
Brandi H
Omg that was absolutely insane!!
Zane Burton
Great episode really really interesting
Ann-Marie Watson
Me neither. This episode blew my mind!
Wryslok
I'm shook by this. Holy.....
Alan’s Mom
So fascinating! Can’t wait for part 2.
Wryslok
To be able to look at tedbundy in an objective light, is why I love these guys. To be objective, to use one's reason, is possible only if one has achieved an attitude of humility. Xoxoaa
Justine McNeil
😱 your poor kid!!
Patrice
When Gary Ridgeway was arrested I happened to notice the name on a report at work. The name has a unique spelling so I knew it was him. The notes showed the wife called to make changes on the account but was really vague about the reason. i didn't know what to do with information. I know it's silly, but that's one one connection with a serial killer.
Timothy Bergen
Since you're on the Green River Killer and Ted Bundy, could you do a show on the book Murderland, about the relationship between toxic pollution and serial killers in the Pacific Northwest?
Zachary Leatherwood
Lol, you’re not the only one, at least us two, I’m certain many more though.
Zachary Leatherwood
Yayyy!!!! Bundy can kiss my ass, but hearing his nasty deeds, especially from a James&Jimmy output, is a nice view into that mind set!!! Shut up and Give Me Murder!!!!!…..🤔(But don’t commit murder)
Jon Phipps
I can't be the only one who thought the title said Ted Bundy and Grok 😭😭😭😂😂😂😂
Joe Fitzpatrick
The only penalty out can't undo, Jason, so our country gets it right
Rob Anderson
Fuck Bundy The saddest thing for me is always people can name these serial killers who at some part of their brain luv the infamy they get but hardly anyone can name one of their victims In Australia at least at one of our worst massacres ( that finally changed gun laws here ) at the memorial they name all the victims and leave out the deadshit evil killers name He shot children thru a scope in his rifle Deserves to die but we don’t have that which is a bit 🤔I is without doubt kill them
Jason M
Amazing research as always. Reichert said multiple times (other cops too) how Ted did nothing to help out with “the river man” and was very smug about Ted’s offer. Now I hear that there was 22 pages that he wrote the task force right off the bat. Never knew of this out of several Bundy books I’ve read. I agree with James, Country music sucks and Bundy should have been kept alive.
Stephanie Hale
You Guys are Awesome!!! I didn't vote, because 1st, every episode is fantastic, and 2nd, I knew I was going to hear the next topic at a later date. Another Great episode!!! I tell friends and strangers about your podcast.
dhigueracooke
As usual great episode! I know its not murder related but damn do i wanna know your take on the new “catfish unknown number” documentary 🤣
nieva29
Bundy could have been Dexter 😉
Punkie Leonard
Another great bonus, thank you! And Bundy should have been a consultant a la Hannibal Lecter. But just woulda had to cut his balls off so we don’t have a bunch of little Bundy kooks running around.
Jessica O'Dowd
If I took a drink everything the guys said prostitutes, I'd be dead
Tracy Poetz
I just realized something. Maybe the men out here traumatizing women are these boys going out fishing when they’re young and finding bodies. Coincidence? lol
Amy Sousa
When James says, “We’re probably gonna need another episode…” 🙌🏼
Jessika Gomez
Ya we need to study these mfs. I think it would help us notice this shit before it happens.
Sir Davy Hale III
They should've kept him alive. I mean, they kept murderous nazis alive to help them build rockets and shit. So wtf?
Renata
In Erie, pa, & possibly other places, we throw bottles into the lake on purpose. That’s where our beach glass comes from. Ppl collect it & make mostly jewelry from it.
Ross Timbrook
Reichert lived for years off the GRK, he took forever to solve it and people think he’s a hero. Most people in the PNW can’t stand him.
Debi Bailey
What a fantastic Bonus!!! Thank you so much! This was fascinating and can't agree with you more that we missed a perfect opportunity of using a really brilliant criminal mind. I don't really know much about Gary Gilmore was he really that smart or was he just lucky? Thank you again guys!!!
wilson wilsoff
Best PATREON yet, absolutely fascinating. Thanks gents
Tammy Hedrick
Wow. I completely agree, a wealth of information, thrown away. Thanks for the episode fellas, and all your research James.
Crowded Crow
I'm so happy! I'm not tricked, I can really listen!
Meg Hinton
How does someone claim to go to church like a good Christian then have a record for stealing? That hypocrisy kills me. And the do unto others commandment obviously didn't sink in for myla either.
Dennis McIntosh
Litter became an issue in the 1960s; Ladybird Johnson headed the Make America Beautiful movement. If you thought litter was bad in the 70s and 80s, you should have seen the 1960s. That’s when we noticed convicts picking up litter for the first time.
Jeremy James
Wow, I had no idea that he helped. I am intrigued as heck for the next episode. Thanks fellas!
Molly S
They said they’re doing that after they finish this 😊
Cosmo's ma
One of my favorite episodes. Thanks guys!
Patrick
OMG The best! What you did with this episode. Cannot wait for part 2.
Rob Dean
The first incantation of Pearl Jam was called Green River
Jennifer Hadad
As soon as James mentioned people caring about trash in the 70s I said “ the crying Indian commercial” and then he said it 🤣. Also, every time James said River Man I giggled a little, picturing a man with a big R on his chest and a knife in his hand
Tony Spigony Rogalette
Go listen to crime junkie. Bye
Cosmo's ma
2 parts??? Yay!!
Marcella Fletcher
I think that was Ed Gein.
Maria CC
Regardless of how you feel about the death penalty killing Bundy was a wasted opportunity. He had a (fortunately) rare personality type that could have assisted law enforcement with catching other serial killers. He was already locked up away from society. I don’t believe we gained anything from his execution.
Nikki Mendez
Wow, it really does take one to know one.
Jonathan Bennett
Gaydar for killers.
Jason Forrest
Ok I had to pause the podcast to come here because James said ‘crying Indian guy’ when I knew he knows Ralphie Cifaretto. Brilliant reference.
Jamie Hernandez
My son found a body riding his bike to school (he was about 13) so James was right about that.
Christine Snyder
This was amazing! I really hope they do the history of executions as well!
Shadow Thomas
Though keeping him alive would have helped to catch others. But what extent and how many of these assholes do you keep alive to catch more? Does the cycle end?
CJ
This was SO much more interesting than I ever anticipated…can’t wait for part 2 of the River Man.
Gary Howard
Well shit!
Jpprice14
Fuck yeah! Bundy won!
Em
YES!!!
Kate Lussier
also, Idgaf if youre reading articles, its 2025. can we pepper in SEX WORKER and not use "prostitute" every 4th word. fucks sake
Natalie Auerbach
Yay!!!
Megan Manassero
I lived within a mile or so of where Gary Ridgeway was active in the early-mid 80s and I remember seeing news reports as a 6-8 year old little girl. I was SO scared. One would think my parents would have explained why I needn’t be frightened. My best friend and I thought it was her stepdad, he looked just like one of the composites. Alas, it was not. But he was still a creepy dude.
Samuel Katz
Lmao I had no idea the Keep American Beautiful “Crying Indian” guy was an Italian guy pretending to be one hahahahaha
Shannon DeSilva
My only thing is why are we calling these teen girls women? When it comes down to it, whether Gary knew or not, alot of his victims were minors(14), they weren't women.
Zach Hollander
Wooooooooooooooooo
OMAR GOBBY
Darn Was hoping for the other one Maybe next bonus
Stephen Tot
Was this the inspiration for the book/silence of the lambs?
Crime in Sports and Small Town Murder
There is. I didn't know we were calling for a poll. I dont know if James and Jimmie were aware that there was an option. They are, now.
Nash essman
Knew this one would win it. Btw is there no way to do a poll on patreon?
Lisa Cross
YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Margaret E Bounsavy
YAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!
Wi Tu Lowe
First, get fucked
