Dwayne de Lung

'No way to quit working on junque?'... So, you're in our boots now, eh?

Dwayne de Lung

Try having an ancient F600 with a 300 inline 6-cylinder. You'd worship the diesel gods every time you went over 50mph...

David Baldwin

yes indeed and lifting that intake out and especially back in requires the strength of Hercules or a year of lifting weights while on illegal steroids. I have never had to pull an FE intake with the engine in the car but would unbolt the hood and use a cherry picker if the situation would arise. In contrast it's easy to swap the intake on Y-blocks. cheers

David Yates

Sounds like some sort of intervention is required...

Brendan Hood

I buy most of my non-duty shoes at a running store. Although the only kind of running I do is away, they've always set me up with good quality shoes that meet my needs and are damn comfy.

Watch Wes Work

Huh. Are those sold in the US?

Watch Wes Work

Isn't that the engine where you also have to remove the push rods to remove the intake manifold?

Watch Wes Work

I've had lots of scopes, starting with an old Tektronics that used vacuum tubes. The Pico is just really dialed in for automotive applications.

Watch Wes Work

Thanks so much!

Watch Wes Work

Huh. Never heard of them.

Watch Wes Work

Interesting!

Watch Wes Work

I can't find a way to quit working on junk.

Watch Wes Work

I've heard of Barge. Weldwood is what my local hardware store sells. Seems to work well. The fumes are enough to take down a bull elephant...

Watch Wes Work

I think book time to pull the engine is 14 hours.

Watch Wes Work

Not a 6.0 or 6.4...

Jason Harner

Running shoe recommendation, obviously shoe fit is personal but I've got a pair of La Sportiva Bushidos that have held up really well for a couple years (~500ish hiking miles), and I'm pretty hard on shoes.

David Baldwin

I have had great luck with shoe goo as mentioned earlier. your needing to remove the oil pickup tube before the pan would drop reminded me of a similar situation on ford FE engines where I could not drop the pan without first reaching into that little gap and unbolting the oil pump dropping it and the distributer drive shaft down into the pan. getting it back together was a serious challenge. cheers

Matt Londergan

Great video. Should have made halloween themed because that 6.0 is a zombie truck. Good reminder to never buy a 6.0. Thanks for sharing your perspective on what goes into creating machined features like the 4mm groove on that windage tray, love to hear that kind of stuff. How did you get into using the pico scope? Was that also from your CNC days?

Noah

Just got my WWW insignia plate Wes and it's beautiful. Appreciate all you do.

Brendan Hood

I wear Brooks Cascadia runners. Super comfortable and have stood up to the abuse I throw at them at work. The waterproof Gore-Tex model is out of this world. I wipe them down with hospital strength disinfectants, wear them around the fire hall doing services on the trucks and they just keep coming back for more. I'm on my 4th set. A good set of New Balance used to last me 6 months, my current set of cascadias are going on 2 years and have one small oil stain.

Bill

Thanks for the excellent video, as always. The interwebs say https://www.letsrun.com/news/2023/10/most-durable-running-shoes/ about durable running shoes.

David Yates

Not really a comeback I would say as the fault was different. Are you still running a repair shop part time Wes?

James Riordan

Shoes: Barge brand cement is what shoe repair shops use. We use Sikaflex around here.

CapnMac82

So, I'm guessing the Book Time to pull the engine is best measured in Man Days, not hours. And, then, you'd not have a fixture to put the fool thing in. I suppuse it could be worse, and be a 9 litre ISX.

Bill Scott

Wes, I always learn something new from your videos, today I learned never buy a Ford diesel.

Jeff Chandler

Not sure what kind of adhesive you used on the shoes. I’m sure it works fine. I have used Shoe Goo on the kids shoes with satisfactory results.

Curtis Roberts

I always hate working on any of the Ford work vehicles, E series or F series. They are so interwoven with frame and suspension components I feel like the first step on an engine repair is usually "remove the rear bumber and work your way forward" It super abnoxious!

Roger Howell

Now dealerships are charging a fortune for repairs. And the price of parts...

Roger Howell

Just a little bit o' rust.

Chris Jenkins

Beauty Wes!

Eric Corse

That Oil pickup tube was almost a case of you can't get there from here. Neat wire stripper.

RandomThingsKeithDoes

Thx Wes. Another tool that will probably get added to my collection to the dismay of the wife (as per the video on my channel). LOL

Nick Vogel

I’m glad you explained the o ring style pan. Furd abandoned it the 2nd year of the 6.7 and have always wondered why a 10 plus hour job would be left to metal wipes and rtv

Chris Freemesser

The struggle is real Wes...I have no idea how those things are supposed to be Fixed Or Repaired Daily when they're so hard to work on. :) Serious question...what is that expensive/complicated upper oil pan plate doing that a traditional oil pan with an inexpensive stamped steel windage tray couldn't do?

dozerman53111

I was always told if it didn't leak it wasn't a diesel !!! Good job Wes.
