Yeah I also was in combination classes in 2nd grade AND 3rd grade. (2nd/3rd grade and 3rd/4th grade combinations). Teachers and parents hated it. There was no such thing as teachers aides in my school either. My school was very much chronically underfunded and the teachers did the best they could, but there were difficulties especially in that 3rd/4th combination year.

Yes, when I was in first grade we had kindergartners in our class as well. Given that MY kindergarden class had only kindergarteners, I remember being very confused why those babies were in there with us😁

Former teacher here. Yes two grades in one class is a thing. Usually due to a money or teacher shortage.

I love Jacob bc he tries so hard. He wants to be relatable to his kids & wants to influence them positively & is okay if his efforts to do so are seen as corny & I find that so admirable. People (including myself) care too much about what other people who actually are kind of terrible think & we should strive to leave that behind.

this episode was so funny, i remember i was worried that jacob was gonna be like "ykw maybe i should leave teaching and go back to being a story samurai" but i'm glad that he didn't lol. also i like the whole perspective that we should just let people do what makes them happy even if most people think it's corny, like everyone has different ideas of fun and if it isn't hurting anyone then there's no reason why we should take the fun away from other people just bc we personally don't find it entertaining
