I actually didn't delete my comment but came back to interact with you all, saw it was gone, and assumed that the guys deleted it since it was flagged as a spoiler. I saw your comment on ep5 that Huynyi identified as a woman before we met her onscreen and you are right. Trying to explain the scene as it was happening I misgendered her. @Dasia, not sure if you're replying to me specifically haha but yes you're 100% right in everything you said! i should've worded better! but yeah, she just hasn't gotten any surgeries yet, so she would canonically still appear as biologically male to the characters. and for the 'hyung' part, i was referring to when geunsoo found out she was a transwoman, and accidentally called her hyung then corrected himself and said noona; i only brought it up as an example to show that it's not just seungkwan who thought she was a guy all this time, and that it wasn't necessarily because of his limited view as Asnate had suggested

Okay, we are getting really spoiler-y, but I want to discuss. My other comment was deleted because of the spoiler, but I always thought that Hyunyi was a transwoman. That her sex assigned at birth was male and the club scene was everyone realizing that she was indeed a woman. That is why she is referred to as a hyung, not only because of how she was presenting, but biologically the character was male. This is supported by the way she was treated by YiSeo after the reveal. Maybe we should have saved this for the actual episode, but some of us don't speak Korean and all of the nuance gets lost in the translated captions.

until a show officially confirms something itself, then it is always spoiler.. (more spoilers ahead) but no, seungkwan thinks she's a guy because, canonically in the show, hyunyi is supposed to straight-up look like a guy.. UNTIL she presents femme at the club. even yiseo and geunsoo thought she was guy prior to its reveal; geunsoo accidentally calls her "hyung". just because the actress looks feminine and is a cis woman irl, it's easy for us viewers to already assume she’s as a woman

I don't see it that way. The vibe I got when I watched the show is... She is obviously a masc presenting girl, but u can tell it's a girl. But the gangster guy has been to prison the past years and his world view is limited so he doesn't put 2 and2 together.

In the kitchen scene. The guy dosent know that the cook is a girl bc of her style and short hair. That's why he was saying all that about scrubbing each other's backs. It normal to go to a Korean spa with your same sex friends. It's a normal to scrubby dead skin cells away there.

Quick thing about the Korean drinking age because you questioned it. The drinking age is 20 in korean age, which is 18/19 in international age. Koreans are one year old at birth and age one year on 01/01 each year. They celebrate their birthdays but don’t age in numbers on the day. So before the new year Yi Seo 18 in international age and 19 in korean age, therefore she couldn’t legally drink before. Hope this made sense, because English isn’t my first language. 😊

I love the conversation between Yiseo and Sooah in this episode. everything Yiseo said to Sooah about herself and the way she treats Saeroyi is so true! I will say that in the beginning, I wasn't sure what I wanted for Saeroyi but I knew by this point that I definitely didn't want Sooah for him.

There are a lot of red flags in this show. Lol. But something to keep in mind is that Saeroyi said to Sooah when she visited him in jail when she felt guilty that she should make her own choices and live her own life. He doesn't judge her and sees the best in her even when she wrongs him. She's essentially an opportunist and for her, that's what she's chosen to do to survive. When he answered that he still likes her without wavering, Sooah feels a bit of shame that she's using his good nature and care towards her. She's annoyed reflecting on herself because he is so firm in how he thinks and feels, leaving the ball in her court to decide how she should/shouldn't live her life.

correct me of im wrong, but i think this is your guys’ first experience with the kdrama love triangle right? one of the kdrama trope staples 😭 so far for me, im neither team soo-ah or yi-seo, im just team sae-ro-yi, poor guy deserves the world 🥺

She's actually not playing a guy. Trans women are still women. So she is playing a woman. And you should probably delete your comment anyways, and subsequently mine, because it is a spoiler. The viewer should be guessing/confused/wondering along with the characters.
