For people asking to react to the original Malayalam version “Ramji Rao Speaking”- while The movie is so good and works really well for malayalees, I think it doesn’t have a good print (it’s from 1989 - much older than Herapheri). Also subtitles won’t be that good, I feel. Many comedic elements in the Malayalam version is in dialogues, slangs and accents especially for the iconic roles of Innocent (who did Paresh rawals role) and mamukkoya. Although same can be said about hera pheri also. Paresh Rawal’s slang contributes a lot to the fun element.

Hera Pheri works even today because of Paresh Rawal. He portrayed Baburao Ganpatrao Apte without going overboard and saved it from becoming a stereotypical caricature . Inspite of being a Gujarati, he played a Marathi drunkard oldie pretty well that still evokes laughs and has an endearing quality to it.. These are examples of actors that take the character beyond the script

Glad to know ! I went on his wiki page to double-check and it seems he shifted to Hindi in the 2000s. I've heard of Bhool Bhulaya a thousand times but didn't realise he was the director. Glad Hindi folks love him as much as we Malayalis do :)

The item number features Namrata Shirodkhar. She's also an actress, producer who I think doesn't act anymore but she's well known by many for playing Aishwarya's sister in Bride & Prejudice. As far as i know they shot two songs without the director knowing which were later removed and are not in the final cut .

You guys should watch the sequel. Although it’s a remake of Guy Ritchie’s “Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels”, it still is one of the best comedies produced in Bollywood. I found that more entertaining than the first one.

What an awesome job done by Ajay. And yes you guys should watch the sequel, its good. But Bhool Bhulaiya and Stree 2 should not be compared to this classic. To be honest Bhool Bhulaiya and Stree 2 were not funny for a lot of Indian audiences too.

Most of the songs are like that becoz of producer's demand, even director himself didnt know the songs in the movie until he watched in theater. They shot the songs without the director knowing.

When Korbin asked if Akshay actually did the stunt during his intro song....yes, Akshay did all his own stunts so he prob did do that and I also know he used to lift all his female actresses that way, behind his back....he did it at events too.

This is another remake from the Malayalam movie - Ramjirao speaking. Priyadarshan, the director, is known in Bollywood for these remakes. But I feel this is one of the better remakes from Malayalam to Hindi.
