Yeah, that'd be an awkward explanation. Probably better to make up an excuse for doing something a bit more traditionally malicious... I still want to maintain Sheila's general all-work style, but I want to emphasize a point that she made previously which is about "code switching," how she can find it very difficult to swap opinions and perspectives with someone. Joyce is sort of in that boat with Emily, but she sort of has a fluid balance between girlfriend and baby. With Sheila though, I see her being much more rigid. A boss can't be a friend, and a baby can't be anything but that.

First, I apologize for the late reply, and second, thank you for the comment! Sheila definitely dodged one, though we have yet to see if she's been grazed, still. Wouldn't Emily be lucky if Amy really started to break into the Little's clothing scene? Lots of different things to try on in that sphere... Carol is anybody's guess, though I think she's played a significant role already in introducing a new branch for Joyce.

Pleased to read that you have come through the worst of Covid and are on the road to recovery. Sheila has managed to dodge a bullet so to speak, and in the process turn the tables on Joyce who was keen to see Emily working for Amy, modelling Amy’s clothing designed for Littles would be a good job for Emily, visualisations of her toddling around with a bottle or pacifier in a pair of baby pink corduroy dungarees with a cloth diapered butt and crinkly plastic pants or cotton sun suits with frilly bottoms and shoulders come to mind. Where Carol fits in intrigues me, what job could she have in mind for our little protagonist and will Joyce agree to it? Great work, thankyou and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Another great chapter, Sheila got luckier than even she realised when Joyce did not terminate her. Imagine her having to explain to her fiance "I got fired when I bailed on you at the bar to force myself into my boss's kinky dynamic with her cute petite reason" I can't see that going well. Overall I've loved Sheila through out the story even when she wasn't babysitting as through her we get a view of what work Joyce is like when she isn't all cuddles and light. On a side note, I wonder what job Amy has in mind and am still curious in their first meeting many chapters past is it similar to what ever job Carol was going to suggest

Ahh, very interesting!

I have my own theory that involves Sheila and Isabelle, but that's where I'll leave it for now.

While we're on the topic of "seeds". Did someone forget to water the "PJs that the wearer can't get out of themself"-seed because I've been looking forward to that scenario? I really thought that, when Sheila appeared, she'd "accidentally" button Emily's PJs. Great story by the way! Read it 3 times 😊

I'm not an expert on storywriting in any way, but that way of writing seems to me to be the better way. It's certainly more difficult. Every time I attempt writing it ends up exactly like you say, everything happening as soon as it's introduced. In the long term, that just makes for a very shallow story. Chapters like these just feel like a huge payoff as a long time reader.

Sheila's "reveal" is something that I think I still need to be careful with. I want her to be the serious sort of type that still kind of "code switches" between interacting with Joyce, and then with Emily. Joyce is still her boss and that attitude won't change, whereas she's already starting to cement her feelings with Emily. Spoken by Sheila herself, it can be difficult trying to have a dynamic relationship with people. Meaning, if a friend is a friend, she wants to leave it at that. A boss is a boss and a baby is a baby. I think that creates a pretty good distinction between Joyce and Sheila. Joyce for what she does with Emily is motivated solely by love and personal interest, while Sheila through work as a secretary is essentially a babysitter by nature, partially justifying her actions as serving her boss. (Every busy boss needs a babysitter for her kid, after all!) The impression I'm trying to get is that Joyce wants to live the mommy lifestyle while Sheila's interested in getting periodic doses of being a caretaker. Sorry, a lot of words, but so happy for the comment! Thank you!

One thing I've been trying to do with this story is plant "seeds" that don't pay off immediately. Some show up sooner than others, but generally I try not to make something happen immediately as soon as it's mentioned. That's not always the case, but I think it makes the story feel a bit more "immersive" when there's typically multiple moving parts going on at all times. Can't say that'll always be the case, but I'm happy that's the impression people are getting! And yes, those cute scenes between Joyce and Emily. I always hope that I can do those justice. Scenes like that are what I live for, lol. Thank you for the comment!

Thank you for the comment! Truthfully, I am a fan of a super mommy, but it's also important to me that the characters seem human, at least in this story! I do want to maintain Joyce as a pillar, sort of, but that's not to say she can't have her moments. I'm doing much better in terms of health and am mainly glad by this point that I've only been affected as much as I was and no more, it seems. Hoping to keep up the fun and crisscrossing interactions moving forward! Thank you very much!

Sheila is becoming a favorite character of mine! Your writing really fleshes out the complexity of these characters.

It's cool to read about things coming together that have been setup all the way throughout the story. It's obvious where the thing with Sheila is going (unless you're planning some sort of curveball there,) but I like this journey they have going. It's something not a lot of stories in this community have. Also that last scène had me imagining every moment as Joyce was on the phone while trying to keep over-excited Emily out of trouble. Beautiful!

Thank you for the chapter! I love all the interactions your characters have with each other. It’s also been fun to see Joyce on the back foot in the last couple of chapters when she’s usually so confident. Hope you are doing well, and thank you again for all you do!
