Your faces during the Celeste and Perry scenes are sooo real. This show does a really good job at portraying how convoluted physically and emotionally abusive relationships can be.. Celeste believing they are just extremely passionate (especially compared to other couples) - downplaying and denying the abuse, not wanting to be seen as a "battered wife", having to come to terms with being in an abusive relationship. Perry justifying his behavior with the sex and his manipulation/love bombing. Regardless if she likes the passionate sex at times (there's no shame in consensual BDSM or kinks), there's a violation of boundaries and it doesn't justify any abuse. Again, it can be very convolated and difficult for victims when there are happy times and there is so much shame. I'll just leave it at that as the show progresses.

I also think that Celeste is going along with certain things to cope with her husband abusing her but domestic violence isn't so straightforward like most abusive situations. A lot of people think that it's always this stereotypical idea that it's bad all the time. People stay for a number of reasons and a big part of it is psychological abuse tactics. Celeste thinks that the violence is "okay" as long as sex comes after and I'm sure Perry is fine with that. Also, congrats Rob with England advancing to the EURO 2024 finals. I'm still salty as a French supporter.

To answer your question about Avenue Q, it is a Tony award winning musical that is essentially an adult parody of Sesame street. There is a scene where two of the puppets have sex. Some of the song titles include: - " Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" - " The Internet is for Porn" - " You can Be As Loud As the Hell You Want ( When You're Makin' Love)" The show is hilarious, but it is definitely more adult and not really something that you would expect community theatre groups to put on.
