There's some statistics that are roughly like if a man chokes you the likelihood that he will kill you is 750%. If a man hits a woman then it's more likely than not that he would kill her. On Abigail selling her virginity thing, Amnesty International is trying to decriminalize consensual sex work and Abby's project raises awareness about virginity, sex work, and social consciousness. It's easy to write it off but when thinking about things like bodily autonomy in a largely patriarchal society, she was kind of spilling. She's a rich white girl in California, she knows she would bring attention to that cause. I think Abby's character is here to represent a younger generation of young women who want to take back control of their bodies. It goes back to the birth control conversation a few episodes ago, at what point do adults think teenagers are "allowed" to make these kinds of choices on their own? According to 31 states, sixteen is the age of consent.
