I know exactly the channel you’re talking about. They’re one of my favorite reaction channels! (Obviously a favorite along with this channel). Love and Basketball is such a beautiful film and artistically, it’s such a great journey full of wonderful cinematic choices to tell a story that’s unique for the time. Very timeless and not structured like the typical romance film. The guys would love it so hopefully one day soon it wins.

Fortunately Lily what you “personally just think” doesn’t negate facts. In order for problems to be resolved it has to be addressed or nothing changes. You just want to sit in your comfort. What’s worse about it is you’re trying to censor other people in order to maintain it. That’s not happening. I and many others will continue to challenge things when necessary. Another channel I watch just reacted to it yesterday so I feel a little better lol. I just think the boys would enjoy L&B. Its not just a romance, but a sports drama, and explores family dynamics. Its a beautiful movie that constantly gets beat out by subpar romcoms.

Yeah, definitely makes sense. I'd also be upset if my favorite movie/show is always on the list but never wins (has happened before lol), but damn, people are kinda exaggerating. It's not like it's the same 50 people who keep voting for all "white romcoms." I'm not much of a movie buff, so I rarely vote on those polls. I do hope every movie on this list gets their win. The comments are looking like Twitter fanwars though lol

@danielle, i’ve taken sociology courses in college. although i have to respectfully disagree that we should be constantly pointing out the race of everyone in every situation including media. i personally just think it brings about more divide. we should be able to enjoy things as they are even if the people represented are different to us. and it’s a great thing hollywood has become more diverse as time goes on🫶🏻

@Lilly We’re not really “judging media by the races of the characters” it’s just that there are many poc in this Patreon and maybe once in a while we would like to see some stories on the channel that represent us (and aren’t always about our trauma and suffering etc.)

@lilly there was nothing wrong with their comment. I'm glad they spoke up. The undeniable fact is that the overwhelming majority of romances have portrayed two white people falling in love. There's a bias towards those films, which have become the favorite of many (including myself). I didn't perceive the original comment as an attack or an offense. You should ask yourself why you were so bothered by it.

I just changed my vote from Charlie’s Angels to Love & Basketball. I’ve yet to actually see L&B, but as much as I love 27 Dresses (and the fact that James Marsden finally got his due by playing the lead romantic interest), it’s a pretty typical romcom and it would be great to see more diversity and variety in the romance genre.

Agree with someone else that 27 dresses is literally the worst movie on here 😂 like love the dress scene & James Marsden too but some of these other movies are actually good and the boys would love them but I’m glad the people who want to see it will enjoy it, hopefully the other films will get a shot another time.
