I think Ansel ultimately did have the choice to be a father to Klaus way back when but chose not to to protect Esther. He had to have known what Mikael was doing to Klaus all those years so even though he might’ve been a great leader for his pack, he was definitely a terrible father.

Magic requires concentration so severe injury (like two arrows sticking out of you lol) should temporarily affect how a witch uses their magic. It’s not always consistent in these shows but that’s how the rules are supposed to work

Yea I loved the deep dive into kol’s history with witches. It really expanded his character for me on first watch there was even a short series about kols time in New Orleans called awakening or something that gave even more but sadly wasn’t in the full show but excited to see more!
