I feel so bad for Matt. I know everyone is happy that Tripp is dead, but Matt didn’t deserve to see his friend killed like that. And I have to give Matt his props for still defending all the vampires even after all the bad things they’ve done. He always tries to stay loyal to his friends, but it puts him in such an awkward position because they all have killed people. And they’ve all admitted to liking it except Elena.

I need some clarification if anyone can offer it. Alaric erased the memory Elena had of realizing she loved him which was when he gave her her necklace back right? How does that erase the friendship that they built in season 2? How are they completely back at square one?
