Gemini Coven is SO arrogant that they saved the next generation just because they didn't want to cease to exist, if it were for the cruelty committed and that these children deserved to live I would even be more understanding. There, during the chaos of the ceremony, they transferred the babies to something that couldn't die, if we remember correctly, Caroline was the only salvation in that sense, obviously because she was also the only woman.

They thought it was a good idea to use this plot because Candice was pregnant at the time, and with Nina's departure, this was the way they found to keep her in the series. I particularly find this plot disgusting and dreadful, but there are good things about it.

exactly, like the only logical explanation would be that after 1994 the gemini coven would've improved the spell (since it was after 94' kai wouldn't recognize it because it wouldn't appear in his prison world) but that explanation goes to the drain because valerie knew the spell, which means is a old spell that is denitely in the archives and grimoires of the gemini coven, so kai would've definitely know the chant

yeah him thinking it was a prison world chant is just stupid 😭 for one, being sent to one deeply affected him so I doubt he’d ever forget what it sounded like. secondly, he spent decades searching for a way out of one so he’d know everything there is to know about prison worlds. and finally, he was literally the de facto keeper of the prison worlds as leader of the Gemini coven 💀

this plot hole really bothers me because kai was supposed to be a literal genius in magic spells, all that time he was in the prison world he studied magic, he tried to find ways to escape and because of that he learned a lot of spells, so he would definitely know the difference between a protection chant and a prison world chant

They 100% knew it would be hard to have her gone with Nina having just left because without her Bonnie would be the only original female cast member and a lot of the viewers did not like the heretics. Also, I know with how the originals timeline with Hope was progressing at this time they already had plans for the future of the tvdu. So, I think finding a way to have the twins still be born was something they had planned and her being pregnant in real life made it easier.

I don't really like this story arc with Caroline carrying Alaric's kids, but to be fair, she was the only girl vamp at Alaric's wedding, and the Gemini Coven wanted to protect jo's kids. So, it made sense as to why they put them in Caroline
