Down Among the Dead Classes [Alpha]
🕑 Added 2025-05-26 11:33:15 +0000 UTCI am pleased to release the Alpha versions of three new Player Classes for Pirate Borg:
Unlocked Soul: A undead-like class for sailors that have returned from Davy Jones' Locker
Deep One: Fish-like humanoids. You start with an origin related to the depth and/or biome you're from, and as you level up you can choose the Shaman or Warrior subclass.
The Antiquarian: A tomb-raiding, relic-seeking, treasure-hunting scoundrel of a class. You start with an expertise AND a phobia, of course. "Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes!"
If you didn't Kickstarter the upcoming Down Among the Dead expansion book, you can preorder it here.
Earlier in the year we did some live streams on the ideas for two of these if you are interested:

I'd love your feedback on these. They haven't been to our proof reader yet, but they will very soon, and the book will be at the printer in the next month!
All tiers have the same rewards on this release.

I think the Occultism ability for Antiquarian should raise the coral shoggoth summoning by 1 for each additional time taken...So you get +2 devil luck, its now 1 and a 2 on the d20. otherwise I would take it like 6 times lol. The Warrior Deep One skills can be taken more than once besides 4? That's not inherently clear since all other abilities have an italic indication of that. I assume taking the skill again adds another +1 if it can be taken but some ppl might think iy would be a +2, a +3, so on The 6th ability for unlocked soul seems to make them invincible, especially if taken a second time - the odds of rolling 2 1's has to be crazy. I like the visions of Doom but i feel like if not used iy the first 24hrs (game time) than the GM can choose when to swap the roll (but they might not know the d20 result, so its a blind guess)

Are we standardizing abilities that read like "DR-4", "DR 8", "+4 to [xyz roll]?" right now there are all three I prefer adding to the roll as it's the simplest of the three versions, especially when you start stacking abilities.
