Chapter 511 - Primary class upgrade
🕑 Added 2024-12-12 10:03:30 +0000 UTCIt seems like arcane Primary classes are on the menu, and I'm here for it. I might have hoped for something like that, but seeing that none of the classes are below arcane means... well, likely a lot.
I send the message through the link, and while Tess keeps an eye on the monsters and the group, I go through the options.
Mana Reforger (Arcane)
An advanced class specializing in augmenting and transforming both body and equipment through intricate energy manipulation. Mana Reforgers push the boundaries of physical and magical limits, forging powerful artifacts and refining themselves into dangerous combatants.
Your dedication to self-improvement is extraordinary. You've modified and strengthened your body beyond your level and crafted multiple mid arcane items. You have modified your body extensively. Acquired Bone Knitting. With Mana Manipulation at level 60 and a mana stat exceeding 1,200, you've showcased exceptional skill in enduring and reshaping both yourself and your tools. Mindshield Guardian (Arcane)

Primordial Kinetic Master (Arcane)
An elite class specializing in the mastery of primordial kinetic energy. Primordial Kinetic Masters harness primordial forces to perform feats that defy conventional magic and physical limitations.
Your journey into primordial energies sets you apart. Under unique teachings, you've begun mastering primordial kinetic techniques, demonstrating remarkable control and understanding. With skills like Eclipse and constructs like Vortex Core, along with Mana Manipulation at its peak, you've unlocked powers few can comprehend.
These three are a nice start, and even though they don't compare to the later two, I like reading these descriptions. With the system being the way it is, these bits of information can tell some stuff.
Also, I do wonder if it's always like that—the offering starting with worse options to make me start reading and gradually getting more hyped up as the primary classes become more and more interesting.
One day the system will show three offerings and then ask for shards to show more or for me to wait a certain time. An evil variation of a cliffhanger and something I can imagine very well.
Anyway.
Mana Reforger. It's easy to guess why I got offered it. The system likely really liked my body modification and crafting. As with all the offered classes, even here I'm curious what I would get offered—what primary skill, passives, or something else.
Mindshield Guardian is also interesting. Seemingly straight-up increased mental capabilities and very specialized. I don't like the name that much, but the description clearly hints at a powerful mana-based class and extreme mental resistance. That also reminds me that I have to ask others when they reach level 300, how many arcane classes they got offered, if any. With all the shit I went through, it better be less than me. Anyway, Mindshield Guardian—very nice, but maybe next time.
Primordial Kinetic Master sounds more interesting. If I were Whitey, I would likely really like this one. Hell, even to me it sounds interesting. Defy conventional magic and physical limitations? What kind of man wouldn't consider these words cool? I want to defy physical limitations; it has a really nice sound to it.
This one also seems to be one I can thank Whitey for. For the system to acknowledge him that much... that guy must have had incredible talent for kinetic energy, and even so far I haven't met anyone close to him.
But then, there are these two. Something even I didn't expect to see.
Kinetic Mana Harmonizer (Unique Arcane)
A unique class granted to individuals who have taken the first step to harmonizing kinetic energy with their mana control, enhancing their magical prowess through kinetic augmentation. Kinetic Mana Harmonizers utilize kinetic forces to refine and empower their mana-based skills, achieving feats that surpass conventional magic.

Mana Weaver (Unique Arcane)
An unparalleled class for those who have harmonized their mana wavelength to achieve ultimate control over mana. Mana Weavers wield mana with such power that their very presence influences the flow of magic around them.
Your unleashed power is a sight to behold, and you've accomplished feats seen by only a select few. You have killed Champions. Have become a Champion Candidate before the primary class upgrade. Have received unique passive skill. Have studied under an Absolute. Have mana reserves far exceeding your level. Have Mana Wavelength Iris strengthened to the second stage. Have mid-arcane passive allowing you to endure the strain of powerful skills and see mana in a way that few can match. Have reacquired the Mana Manipulation skill multiple times. Countless times you've used mana far surpassing your body's capabilities and survived. Through sheer determination and focus, you reign supreme over your mana.
Unique.
This is a word the system uses very rarely. The last time I saw it was with my passive skill I gained by combining two upper epic skills—a skill that in certain situations can equal a passive arcane skill. It's something confirmed by it being mentioned in the description of Kinetic Mana Harmonizer.
Unique means it was made for me—a new thing, modified, changed, or created according to my performance, my status. I think.
The same goes for these two Primary Classes. Likely a base of an arcane class, modified to be unique to me, and the passives or skills they will offer will likely be the same way.
I think it was Lissandra who once long ago said that the system doesn't like to give you things that cover your weaknesses. No, the system strengthens and builds upon what you have done.
Since then, I have been thinking about the two starting skills I got: [Focus] and [Mana Manipulation]. It's as if the system pulled them out of us instead of giving them to us, and since then we have started building on these two bases together with the help of the system.
Each of these skills feels important and telling, and often reveals a lot about us. The twins looking for [Connection], Tess and how she told me how she liked to watch that group of friends play, getting [Farsight], Lily getting healing while having all of that anger, wrath inside of her turning into [Disintegration].
Me with [Focus] allowing me to ignore my emotions even further than I did.
Even now, close to two years into the tutorial, there is so much I don't know. How the system came into being. Who made the tutorial, that seems to be older than the Rulers who learned how to influence it slightly. What is the First Dungeon and why did the Rulers build Beyond over it? Why did they connect Beyond to the tutorial and the real world?
Why why why why?
"Nat. We need to move. There is a group of twenty of them," Tess taps my shoulder and points into the distance.
Obviously, I don't see anything, but I believe her.
"Need me to slow them down?"
"There is no need to currently, but be ready to defend—they seem to have long-range attackers as well."
So we move, running as quickly as we can.
Sophie leaves behind some of her webs to make tracking more difficult and does something to the air around us, making visual contact more challenging.
I use [Eclipse], expanding it further beyond us and dissipating the mana we leave behind.
We don't head back; no, instead we delve deeper, and when I want to go reread the descriptions, Tess shouts a warning.
Over our heads, a bone javelin two times as long as my body passes by, a red light glowing inside. The incredible amount of mana it contains expands, and cracks appear on it.
Teleport brings me closer, and I grab it with my hand. Colors disappear from around me, and the red light becomes ever so brighter. But even that light dwindles; it pulls back and dies off as my [Eclipse] surrounds it and suffocates it. My Mana Wavelength Iris observes it the entire time.
When I let go, the javelin crumbles, the mana potent enough to equal my tricolored orb explosions reduced to nothing.
My kinetic energy surrounds me, and another javelin slows down to a crawl. I fly towards it, grabbing it. [Eclipse] surrounds it again, and the mana fights back; it threatens to destabilize to attack me, but in the end even that one dissipates into fine particles.
When I grab the third one, the light only blinks, slowly changing and turning pale blue. The javelin becomes mine, and I throw it into the air, further boosting it with kinetic energy.
In a few seconds, even I can see the explosion at the place where the javelin came from.
Resonance Flow expands even further as I fly a bit behind and cover a big area, six of the bone javelins slowing and stopping in the air.
More and more mana is channeled into [Eclipse], and my eyes read the wavelengths of each of the weapons. I modify my frequency, I adapt it to them, and then I take over. I destroy the ownership and make them mine.
Ley Lines connect to each of the weapons, pumping them with more and more mana. As I shoot all of them, the Ley Lines snap and disconnect.
Six more explosions miles away, but this time I can feel the vibrations of the explosions even without the kinetic senses.

I boost myself after seeing no more javelins and catch up to the group after deploying some traps triggered by mana threads, and some extremely dense mana threads to either cut through the monsters or tangle them for a bit. Landing near Tess, I boost my body with kinetic energy and start running by her side.
"There is another group to our left and a smaller group ahead of us," she warns.
"Something attracts them to us similar to the previous zone, or is it just like this?"
"I already asked Luna, Leticia, and Sophie to look into it, but they didn't find anything, and Leticia said there shouldn't be anything attracting monsters like we attract lurkers. It seems like they have some scouts tracking us and sending them our way."
Then she asks through our link so others can't hear, (Are you going to upgrade your class?)
(To be honest, I'm really impatient to do it and already have my pick. But I don't know if it won't give me some stuff that could make me unconscious while applying, and I don't need it to deal with these guys.)

Kinda interesting that Black Mana isn't mentioned in the class descriptions? Does it mean it's outside of the System purview? Or is that what's meant by "ultimate control over mana"?

Nope. But Nat mentioned that Fracture costs more than those two arcane items mentioned. Maybe Fracture is a higher mid tier or something lol

Also Nat is probably gonna take Mana Weaver. Kinetic Energy is a part of his powers, but not something that defines Nat. He likes Mana. Everything that makes him better with it, is what he wants

Aside from Fracture, Nat also made two middle arcanes which are Mana Reaver and Ironbreaker or something. He sold those 2 new items to buy his mid arcane passive.
