Beautifully said, Alch. Like you, I hope the Lakers can honor Kobe with a O’Brien trophy. My pops, a huge Warrior fan (who passed it to me) passed away in 2015, the year the Dubs won it all after 40 years. It was the sweetest victory ever in so many levels. I hope the same for Laker Nation.

Reminds me of the shock of the untimely death of John Lennon. But he and Kobe both knew they were loved and got to bask in that affection. For me, their legacies are very similar. Enduring and inspiring in countless ways. Transcending music and sport, in much the same way that Muhammad Ali transcended boxing.

I took my 11 year old daughter on the ferry to SF today to walk around chinatown. Fuck if I wasn't imagining "ok what if this ferry crashed into some shit" right at the exact fucking time. Shit is beyond awful. Too scary and depressing for words... just love.

Damn, I used to dread seeing him face the Warriors but he was a legend and a pillar of the basketball community. RIP Kobe Bryant. You'll be missed. But his daughter dying at 13 before her life had really truly begun is just awful. I feel so sorry for the surviving family. Jesus, just...heart-breaking.

Super sad man. Being a young 22 I grew up watching this dude torch the dubs for a decade. IMO he was the best ive seen with my eyes play excluding current players. IDK about rooting for the Lakers to win, but I agree that would be the best outcome to see. With the dubs out seeing a team rally behind losing someone like him would be special.
