For me the issue with these kinds of injuries is the bottom line. If major trauma to tendons and ligaments continues to climb each year at some point the juice is no longer worth the squeeze for professional sports. The talking heads are pinning the current spate of killer tears in the NFL on lack of preseason. I think that's partially true but it fails to address what has been a growing trend already as well as the impact of PEDs. Players now possess artificially created physiques and fitness attributes which human connective tissue was never meant to manage. And the situation is only going to get worse.
