I dunno your fairy magic well enough, but if you can react quick enough you can probably absorb the energy of the shot, but this stuff go nearly light speed, compared to a crossbow or a gun. So reaction time is an issue, it's not your average star wars/star trek laser that you can nearly outrun on foot.

Heh, I don't think it's nearly over. Remember the Nihilak can summon tentacles on command so it might really suck, but she hasn't actually done any real damage to him as far as I can say.
